Use small batches and replace when contaminated. Use a clean brush. Works as advertised. Protect the rest of the piece with boric acid/denatured alcohol if it's not pure gold or silver. Best to dry the flux gently before soldering to avoid bubbles pushing the solder out of place.

I wanted a flux that wouldn't bubble as much as my straight Borax flux does when heated. The borax bubbles so much that it sometimes displaces small components when soldering or knocks the solder pallions off. The Batterns is less inclined to do that. Works well for soldering silver.

I normally work with copper and brass. But I started working with silver, sterling silver, and found I needed a new flux. This one was recommended to me by someone else who uses it religiously. I have been using it for months now and highly recommended.

Excellent. Bought this to solder and build platinum redox probes and it worked great.

This is a great alternative to the white flux I usually use. I use this when I'm going to be soldering a number of seams and/or embellishments on the same piece because I can just dip the whole piece in and be sure there's flux everywhere it needs to be. And since it's clear, I also pour a little in a small dish and just put my pieces of solder and other smaller bits right in, and no trouble to find them when needed. Great stuff, although I'm not sure about the self-pickling. Maybe I'm fussy, but I find that copper almost always needs some time in the pickle, and often sterling silver, too, especially if more than one spot has been soldered. But that's a minor matter. I've always got the pickle on, and it's great stuff in every other respect.
