I used this to try and sand down an unpainted texture and it didn't work out. It was a heavy texture but with an 80 grit pad I thought it would tear into it a bit more. Ended up taking it down by hand. I'll be trying for general drywall soon and I'll see how it does.

Although it's a little heavy and a little challenging to manipulate, it did a fantastic job- even on my very uneven ceilings. There are parts we could not get smooth, but I think that's more the "waves" in the old ceiling. For less than $100, this was an exceptional deal.

I was thinking of buying a drum sander to sand some OSB boards but after a few blogs and seeing that not only the drum replacement was over 500.00 due to they wear out... i thought outside the box and brought this unit and guess what....it works just fine!!!. I did have of the wood so you can see it sanded it down just fine... Fast, reliable (long as the driver is competent),and the best place to buy from...AMAZON!!!! will buy again

One of the most effective tools I have ever purchased! I’ve done a fair amount of drywall work in my home which I have always dreaded, especially when smoothing texture. It never comes out right even after hours of manual sanding. This thing does a better job in minutes. Surface comes out smooth and consistent after 2 or 3 swipes. An entire 15 foot wall takes 10 minutes or less. Dust control is awesome when used with a shop vac, no mask required! I did not know before purchase that there is surface lighting which illuminates the work area in detail. It’s a bit hefty but it works so quickly it is usually not a factor. Not sure how it could be much lighter. Worth many times the price.
