I was skeptical if this little tool would be worth it for processing out meat chickens as we usually just pull the lungs and everything out my hand but this made it go a lot faster and easier to scrape them out. It was worth buying.

As a homesteader, I didn’t think we needed these when processing our chickens. Always just used our fingertips to find and scrape the lungs out. Sure, sometimes there were bits of lung left behind, but no big deal. Right?Wrong! Not only did these lung pullers make it much easier to pull the lungs from birds, but it also left them with a much better presentation for our small customer base. No more bits of lung matter in the carcasses. Just a better presentation all around.Glad we bought these for processing days. A handy tool to speed along the process. Now I’d rather have them than not.

The angle of the shaft towards the working end of the tool helped to get in the cavity really easily. It made lung removal very easy and quick. I would recommend. Much easier than reaching up with you hand to remove the lung especially if it’s a smaller chicken. Would work well for all types of poultry during processing.

I first processed chicken without one of these and my fingers were absolutely raw the next day from trying to get the lungs off the rib cage by using only my fingers. This tool helps out immensely. Cannot recommend it enough. It’s super sturdy and strong effective, and worth every penny.

We were hand plucking our birds for 3 years. I’ve been slowly investing in different tools and this was my latest one. My husband said it was OK. I think this was because he couldn’t feel the lungs because our other helper loved it and made sure he came and told me so. So I guess it would be a personal preference as to whether you would like it.

This tool significantly reduced our time in processing birds. It's a little expensive for what it is, but the reduced frustration and increased efficiency make it worthwhile. We chose this plastic handled model over the cheaper wooden handles because of easier cleaning and reduced risk of bacteria.

When processing chickens, my fingers would get sore and my nails would break from trying to scrape out the lungs. This tool has helped that. It works to pull out the lungs. I think maybe I would have preferred one that sprays water, only I don’t have enough hoses for that. This is a good priced, working option.
