I got this press to begin my bookbinding journey. It’s easy to secure the book and tighten as needed with the side screws. It was essential for making it an easier process to spray the edges of a couple of books than just using clamps like I had prior - this is a lot more secure. This is the only one I’ve ever used but thus far has been able to do everything I need it to.

I wanted to like the Yarkor Book Press - 11.6x7.9 Inch, Portable Bookbinding Press. I had many dreams of pressing flowers and books and using it for scrapbooking. But those dreams are gone. This book press has been so frustrating. Let's start with setting it up.It's quite straight forward, but a few things stand out. For one, the bolts and nuts still have some metal shavings on them, so when I put them on, I found myself getting stabbed by random slivers of metal. Then, when I finally did put it together, I found that it doesn't fully close! The nut on the other side of the bolt sticks up, so I can only get it to flatten down to 5mm, if that. The bolts also make the usable area of the book press even shorter. I can't fit any of my scrapbooks into it, which really makes it unusable for me.Would not recommend.

Do pay attention to the size if the press area. It's quite small, so make sure it'll fit your needs. It looks nice, but mine came with 2 of the 4 holes in the bottom drilled improperly. This does, unfortunately, make it difficult to get the top on, but it's doable.

I've been making handmade journals for several years and using a heavy book and weight to press them when complete. This book press is a game changer and I can't believe I waited this long to order it. It's very well made, 3/4" thick finished wood. Hardware is quality and easy to use. Assembly is fast and easy. If you press things, buy one, it's worth the investment. I tried a few others that were cheaper in cost, and definitely in quality. This one won't disappoint.

It arrived safely in a nice fitted box and came with some spare nuts and bolts. It is very easy to assemble and I barely needed the instructions, which were also very simple to follow. I used it on two books so far, and it flattened both of them out. The bamboo is smooth but a little rough and I was slightly concerned I might get a splinter, but I haven't yet. Other than the surface, it looks high quality and will last a while with lots of book flattening and flower pressing to come.

Now, I did not order this to use as a book press as that sort of thing is beyond my skills. I did however get it to press flowers. I had to cut some cardboard pieces to give it enough height to press something like flowers but it works wonderfully. I love that you can use the tension rods to adjust the tightness as things start to flatten out. Great product.
