This clips to the bell of the trumpet. Bought it because it looked easier to put on than others which it is. However, my son complains it makes his trumpet heavy. If you think about it it makes sense. The bell of the trumpet becomes very heavy and it puts more pressure on his thumb. Would not recommend for that reason.
