I got this for a DeWalt716 Miter saw. It fits it perfectly. This item is two - 3/8 inch MFD boards cut to fit and use on several DeWalt saws. It's pretty simple really. It comes with four screws, washers and nuts to attach the boards to the saw. The side facing the user has inset holes for the screw heads to be flush. After installing it you can adjust the gap between the boards by moving the upper fence on each side left and right. Unscrew the black knob in the lower left first picture to do so. Make sure to leave your saw in the raised position until you have adjusted the boards outward from the center, then lower the saw and move them in to as close as you desire. This is a reasonable price. They are well made and align with the fence perfectly. The boards add about 1.5 inches in height to the fence and reduce your working area width by 3/8 inch. They can be easily removed or moved out of the way if needed. This functions perfectly. If you don't have one a zero clearance insert would work well with this product.

Every picture in this listing makes it look like you get the zero clearance insert and this fence - I have never in my decade of woodworking heard of anything called a "zero clearance fence" - zero clearance has always referred to the insert, and since all of the pictures in this listing show a zero clearance insert installed, I expected that to come with this order. The tape they've chosen also tears off some of the top coat of the MDF, which isn't great, and there is no protection offered by the manufacturer's packaging so there will be a high likelihood of it arriving damaged.Other than that, it will perform as advertised. It's expensive for what it is, and would be simple to make out of 1/2" MDF, and you'd have 80% of the 4 by 8 sheet of MDF left over, so you could make a zero clearance insert and a couple of jigs as well.

Unfortunately for my situation, this did not fit my DWS780. It appears that this is indeed specific to the DW716. I must not have noticed that the product title states that this is made for the DW716 when ordering, so I am not able to confirm how well this item fits. This zero clearance fence is relatively simple for the most part. It contains a couple pieces of shaped MDF board and comes with a set of bolts, washers and nuts to secure them to the fence. Although the photos also show a zero clearance kerf plate (the bottom piece that the saw blade plunges into), it is not included with this item. This is only for the fence panels (back pieces). The material used is sturdy enough, but the sides of the panels are unfinished, so if they are exposed to moisture/water, they will probably swell up quickly and be destroyed. At the current listed price of $23.99, it's quite expensive considering what it is. However, if you have a DW716 and don't have the time to make a set of these yourself, it could make sense still.

This review is for Zero Clearance Fence Fits Dewalt Miter Saw DW716This is working great on my miter saw, not a Dewalt so the screw holes weren't in the right places but no problem to drill new holes and countersink the bolts. Sure you could make yourself one of these pretty easily but this is thin, hard MDF type board that works fantastic and it's ready to go.

Can anyone who has a need for this likely make the same thing much cheaper? YESDid I feel it was worth it to save my time and just get one of these pre-made? Also yesFunctions as it should, I actually didn't know how much easier this was going to make trim work.

OK little fence that I should have made myself, but didn't. It is made of MDF, and feels pretty cheap, no protection on the MDF, so it will get dinged up and crumble pretty fast. I thought this came with the zero clearance insert, that is the only reason I selected this item. When it arrived, I was sure part was missing, but upon reviewing other's responses, I see it is only these 2 cheap quality pieces. I feel like I was misled. If I purchased this item, I would return it, but we can't return Vine items. So, to sum it up, I got a zero clearance fence that has no zero clearance insert, despite showing the insert in the pics. I would not recommend this product to others.

My miter saw is a different model than what this is made for. That said the quality of these are amazing. I was able to run the wood through my table saw and modify the fit. They are top notch and I marvel at how they are actually constructed. For the right saw these would be a perfect fit. I could not do better on this fence myself in a million years. Now I don't have as much tear out on the back side of my cuts.

It's hard to cut small trim pieces with the regular miter saw fence (backstop) because the opening is too wide. The pieces often "explode" as you cut them which is annoying and expensive. This add-on fence is adjustable, mounting to the upper (movable) portion of the miter saw fence, allowing the opening to be made very narrow. This supports the back of the small trim pieces, eliminating the problem. My only issue (thus 4-star rating) is it's expensive for what it is. However, I was too lazy to make my own, so it was worth it to me.
