I have a 3D printer that I have a 4-Channel switch next to controller (for the moment) just the LED lights. I've wanted to somehow tie in home assistant to my 3D printer so I know when a print is done. Simple task...harder than it seems to get a notification to your phone. Anyway, this solves my problem by running a temperature probe up next to my heating bed. Yes I know it won't measure the bed's temperature accurately where I've placed it. But, it can at least know when it is hot vs not...and that's what I've set up an automation to do. Basically when it goes above a certain temperature it toggles the printer to on and when it goes below it, it toggles it to off. I then have another automation that sends my phone (and computer) a notification that the print is done when it toggles to off. This can use two different power supplies (but I'm pretty sure not both at the same time). In my case I'm using 12V from the same power supply as the LED lights. You can however use a USB micro cable instead which is a plus for those that have a ton laying around.Connected to ZigBee2MQTT quickly and without me having to press the reset button. I just plugged it in and home assistant recognized it. Note that it does add a temperature and humidity device (since that is a typical air sensor combination) even though this shows no humidity values. The temperature values were no problem (within 0.3 degrees of my other temperature sensor in the room) and started streaming immediately. I'd just recommend going in and disabling the humidity part since that won't ever give you a value.Because these are mechanical relays you can hook up DC or AC as needed. This is a plus since later I could run the 3D printer's power through it as well which would then allow me to cutoff power to the 3D printer when needed (i.e. for emergency, overheating...or just power saving during the night if/when it isn't running by checking the temperature sensor).I'm sure there are many other uses for it like maybe a fish tank that uses the thermometer to control a heater/cooler since the temperature sensor is also waterproof. I think it is reasonably priced being only a little more (although if you wanted to wait along time you could get it overseas for less). Definitely recommend this for situations that could benefit from the extra temperature sensor.
