These do a good job of filtering, but they don't last. I have had to replace this filter every 5 to 6 years, for a total of 4 times over the life of the pool. It seems like they could use a material that will last longer. The tank develops vertical cracks and begins to leak.

Although I have the previous generation DEL60 and not the DEV60, the manifold (Zodiac R0359000 Manifold Assembly) is a common part to both. As an owner you can look forward to having to replace this $55 plastic part once or twice a season, which is a great nuisance. Once it cracks it allows dirty water to bypass the filter grid and go straight back into your pool, pool cleaner and chlorine generator.A good clue this is happening is if you backwash, then add new D.E. to the skimmer and you see a faint white cloud coming out of the jets 15 secs later. Or you pool is staying permanently cloudy. You can look forward to this again and again. Then you know. Why they can't engineer a proper pressure bypass, like a wastegate, who knows. Instead they have a 'breather tube' that gets clogged. They redesigned the Zodiac R0358700 Breather Tube to try and prevent the manifold cracking but it hasn't helped at all. The breather tube gets clogged (duh, it's in a filter), allowing quick pressure changes (pump start/stop/surge from trapped air) to crack the manifold from over-pressure.The grid holder is poorly designed too and can puncture the grid fabric because it doesn't hold it securely enough. The tabs that supposedly hold the grids don't fit snugly or extend far enough to stop the grid popping free. A new grid is about $300. You can expect to buy 1 every 2 seasons.Backwashing to get the D.E. out is not very effective. If you backwash and then disassemble, the amount of remaining D.E. around the filter grids is high. So you can never really get all the old dirty D.E. out without disassembling. Well at least you can also replace the broken manifold and maybe the grid too while it's disassembled, assuming you like to throw money away.As another owner said, it's withstood the elements well on the outside well, but the internals are poor.

Have had the filter 7 years and just replaced the grids this spring. Everything else has been great. Clean it once a year and backwash regularly.

We have owned this filter for 7 years. We have replaced the grids once. Replace a 2" standpipe O ring twice. I clean it twice a year. Performs great.

I've owned this filter for 4 years. I've spent $950 on parts since the original purchase. The outside of this filter is solid. Every piece inside is cheap plastic that is not built to handle the job.
