Tried all kinds of hidey places and no dice. He did not like smooth glazed ceramic or wood or resin “hiding place” decorations. I even tried several plastic floating and suction cup attached sort of woven baskets or tubes - no dice. He stayed in the corner at the top of the water. Sad. Then saw this. Day one titally ignored it, maybe he thought it was a giant mean fish. Took it out. waited a day then cleaned the tank. Put it back in at the opposite end. Zero curiosity. Bummer. ok took it out again. Then put it closer to his corner. teased interest with a food pellet to lure him forward from his corner. Voila! Now he is hanging in it like a boss - Yay!

Every fish seems to love this log, if they fit I find them in it. Even my ghost shrimp, climbs those plants and gets right on up in there. On the big side, I thik it;s best in a 5 gallon or bigger. I have a 3 gallon and zipped tied it in place so it would float around and knock and fish around. In a bigger tank fish would have enough room to swim away, plus water current on top will make a difference since it's a floating ornament/hide away.

Took him a while to get used to it but Lua loves the log! It’s VERY buoyant and nice and smooth.

My betta loves his floating log. I decided to fix a sucker to it so it doesn't float around the surface but it was easy enough to do with some aquarium glue. I place his food in the top window so it doesn't float around the tank. My betta spends a lot of time in his new log. Worth the money.

I wish I knew about this sooner! I added this item for a change in scenery for my fishy friend. Within minutes my Betta was chilling in the floating log and was happy/content. We've had it in his tank for about a week and he practically lives in it. I like that it moves about freely and does not contain sharp edges for the betta fins to become damaged. My only dislike is that it chips off a small amount of paint. Make sure that you clean thoroughly and scrub inside and out before placing it in the tank. I don't know if it affects the tank/fish, but to ensure the safety of the environment, I scrubbed until the paint stopped chipping (mostly on the inside).I would recommend this 100% for a nice hideout for your fish friends and add enrichment to their environment!

My betta created a bubble nest in the top hole. He loves it. I lined the bottom of the log with an almond leaf. I sometimes feed him through the top hole and when the food falls he can still get it off the almond leaf vs it falling into the substrate.

Molto bello ! Il mio betta lo adora: è subito entrato e gli ha costruito attorno un enorme nido di bolle. Spero che il materiale resti bello nel tempo. L'oggetto non fa assolutamente alcun odore di plastica come avevo letto in una recensione.

When we first set up the tank, we got the little plastic leaves that you can suction cup to the glass. He did rest on those, but once we put the log in, that was it - the log is his go-to chill spot. We have rosy minnows that we bought when cycling the tank, and they're really fast and swim top and bottom. I was afraid they'd stress or irritate the betta, but he's pretty chill, and I'm glad he has his little hideaway. I feed flakes to the minnows, and bug bites to the betta. Before I had to feed the flakes on one side, and the bug bites on the other, but now he'll hang out in the log during feeding time, too, so I shake his food into the top hole and he can dine at this leisure : - ) If you have a betta, you have to get this - s/he'll love it!

I bought these while they were on sale (buy one get one free I think) so I got two. I knew these were going to be perfect - but not for bettas, as I don't own any.I do, however, own a very quirky, shortbody albino Senegal bichir. His name is Dumpling. So, I noticed that Dumpling really likes to occasionally come up for breaths of air. I had added a bunch of those fake leaf betta hammocks for decoration (and also to help blot out some light from the growlight) and Dumpling used them. That silly little mans would go up to the surface and just sit on those betta hammocks and live his best life.I saw these were on sale and thought.. hm. I wonder if Dumpling would use them? Worse case scenario is I'd have to send them back, but for 2 for ten bucks it was senseless not to try. So.. I tried them. For the first few days Dumpling ignored them but now he started planting his fat butt in the logs and resting in them, so I think they worked out well. So, would it work for a betta? Idk. But for my weird bichir, they're perfect! Lol.

Our little girl’s betta, Aquaman, spends more time hanging out inside of his log than he spends anywhere, including is leaf hammock, which used to be his favorite place until this arrived and was anchored. It does float around the tank and any filtration and/or aeration current in the water leaves it continuously moving, which our betta does not like, so he initially wanted very little to do with it beyond the typical curiosity-fueled investigation of it. I placed a metal-hooked suction cup upside down on the outside of the aquarium and used fishing line to tie through the log on either side that then tied into a loop which hooked onto the exterior hook, acting as an anchor, stabilizing the log. The line pushes up against the top interior of the log; Aquaman seems to like the log a little out of the water, so the line itself is also out of the water and not a danger to him at all. It is perfectly anchored and once stabilized, he became infatuated with it right away, laying around in it and building giant bubble nests inside of it. Two months later and it’s still his favorite.Best betta purchase so far - and there have been several. It even beats the leaf hammock, which we previously would have thought couldn’t be topped in Aquaman’s mind.
