This is an aggressive drill bit that cuts fast through thick stock. I used it to cut holes all the way through 8x8 beams. The threads at the front pull the bit through soft stock so fast that you may need to slow down and pull back to clear the chips. Happy customer.

Good to have in the toolbox. When you need a bit to go through many layers of wood, nothing else will do. Sharp, even on the sides.

Well made and decently sharp and drilled several deep holes through dry beech with a large 1/2" corded drill. Worked flawlessly for that. I was going across the grain and it did not take an undue amount of effort to drill the holes. It has the necessary flats on the shank for a gripping in a three jaw chuck.

5/8 x 11.8 inch Auger Drill Bit for Wood,Hex Shank Ship Auger Bit for Soft Wood, Hard Wood, Plastic, Composite Materials and DIY ProjectsBit has a slight wobble to it due to the bit not being completely true. Doesn’t pose much of a problem at all. The screw tip helps greatly in keeping the bit cutting into the wood. I use this mostly for drilling through framing lumber to run electrical wire.

I don’t know if auger bits are different than other drill bits but these were supposed to be 5/16” and they are slightly larger than that. Not quite 11/32” but somewhere in between . For my use that won’t matter but it could make a difference to some. Otherwise, they work great and the thread point does a good job of pulling the bit into the wood and the spacing does a good job clearing debris. I tested these on kiln dried doug fir as that’s what I will be using them on. I will update this if I run into any issues but they work well so far in testing and I would recommend them.

This drill bit works great. The bit arrives sharp, including along the auger, and it makes good chips. The 5/8 inch auger into pine studs works like a hot knife in butter. I like the screw tip as it gives a well-centered point to start from and pulls the bit through the wood. Also, I like the 6-sided shank, so the drill has the flats to grip on to, especially on drills with keyless chucks. Half a dozen holes isn't enough to judge long-term durability, but the bit shows no signs of wear.

I was excited to see these auger drill bits, they look a lot like the Wood Owl bits I've been dying to try.Starting with price, these are certainly fair. They seem well made and I expect these will last a while if taken care of.I got 1/4" because I was hoping to use these for dowels/plugs. Being a novice woodworker, I probably went too small of diameter. The pointed tip helps pull the bit in with minimal or no walking. It drills quick, but did start smoking through 4 inches. The exit hole is pretty clean. Tearout is certainly less than a traditional bit.All in all, these are a good, affordable option for drilling.
