I purchased my John Deere X300 mower in 2009. About 3 years ago, the engine began surging slightly. It was annoying but not enough to bother fixing it. Then last summer, the surging got really bad and affected the mowing ability. I guessed that it was probably the carburetor so I ordered this inexpensive replacement through Amazon. I received it in a few days.The basic installation was an easy bolt-on replacement. I did have to make a few minor mods, though. There was a screw adjustment that wouldn't allow the throttle butterfly to completely open. I readjusted it so that it opened fully, knowing that the speed governor would keep the engine RPMs under control.Also, the throttle and choke cable linkage connections were different but easily adaptable. The linkage cable ends both terminated with "L"-shape bends which I simply zip-tied to the carb linkage arms. This arrangement has worked perfectly.I also installed the replacement fuel pump and filter, both of which work perfectly. I then installed the fuel petcock valve, which was not included in the OEM fuel line setup. I normally don't bother shutting off the gas line after each mowing session but it'll be nice to be able to close it if I ever need to work on the system again.This carb has been an excellent replacement! The engine has been running beautifully, even better than I remember when it was brand new. The only difference in operation I've noticed is that when doing a cold startup, I have to fully choke the engine and crank it for a few seconds longer than before.I'm glad I didn't spend $500+ on a John Deere replacment!

Do not waste your money on one of these. They are junk. My mower won't even start unless I block off the air intake. And then only for a few seconds. You can't return it, or get your money back. So I'm out my money and my mower still doesn't run. Shame on Amazon for selling such junk. If I could give it zero stars, I would. Maybe a minus 5.

Received order next day. Fuel pump is different. Will only run on full choke.Replaced with another brand and engine runs fine.Unreturnable because after install, it is considered hazardous material.

Purchased my mower used, and the original carburetor completely deteriorated due to using fuel with ethanol. Called JD and they wanted $543.00 for the OE carburetor. Decided to try this for $26.00 and it worked perfectly. It's an exact replica of the original, and I was pleased to see that it required no adjustments, and the mower is running like a top again. The electric choke also works perfectly. I have a couple of these on standby should i have any other issues.

Carbonator was and exact match as described. Fuel pump was a little different than the original, but I was able to install it without any difficulty. Performs as expected. Great value.

It fit perfectly and didn't have to adjust anything all the parts were great. Hose clamps were a little big for the hoses that was on my mower.

John Deere wanted approximately $500 for a carburetor. I declined. I ordered this carb and installed it about 45 minutes. This was my first time. I used YouTube video to help. Mower runs like new. I didn’t use the filters or fuel pump that came with it.
