My mistake, I thought these were the kind that the two sides folds together, around the track. Each hook is actually two parts. The description and photos are accurate, I just didn't look close enough. Turns out, these are more versatile, as I can use half of a pair alone, on the perimeter track. In that case I squeeze them vertically with small channel locks to secure to the track.

I had no idea these ceiling hooks existed until now, and I'm thrilled I found them! No more using paperclips like a caveman—these hooks have opened up a whole new world of decorating possibilities for my basement. They're sturdy and do a fantastic job. Up until now I have been using paperclips and tape to decorate around the office and hold things up on the ceiling. These are a life changer!! Holds up to 20lbs!! I have already used a heavy duty clip and a metal T clip to hang a snowflake projector as part of our Holiday decor :)

I didn’t use the wire pieces but the little hooks fit a standard ceiling grid perfectly. Very easy to use.
