These are great to pack away for camping or in a bug out bag. They're waterproof and light up with ease. Burn time is decent enough to get the fire going

Save your money! They are difficult to get lit (it actually kept going out) the "squares" are very small (maybe 1x1) and they do NOT break apart correctly. They were not perforated/precut very well. Not worth it.

Tested this out in the fire pit in our back yard, it burned for over 5 minutes. The fuel is pre cut into 1 inch x 1inch squares, they produce a flame about the size of a billiard ball. You will definitely need kindling if you are using it to start a fire, but it will give you a good source of flame to get started.

The stuff comes in a block with slices cut partway through. The pieces are quite small. (roughly a cm square)I tried to light some medium sticks (around 1.5"dia) and found that the heat of one piece wasn't intense enough to get them to truly light, so I added some dry twigs which did light and chain like normal.Basically, then, this is very compact & durable tinder. You can quickly go from a match or lighter straight to twigs with one little piece, or further with more. (The dryer your fuel, the less will be needed, of course.)With a few pieces at once, you can light a chimney of charcoal briquettes. If you're able & willing to spend enough of them, most any wood can be lit. This stuff lights easier than a sheet of dry paper. Not a lot easier, but it took to flame almost instantly when the lighter flame touched it. It burned well from there.I expect the wax to help keep the stuff usable by keeping water out, but I didn't test that.

This review s for the original item to which I was linked. The manufacturer has changed the product. I recently got back from a month long camping trip. Although I use multiple starters for my campfires (paper, pine needles, etc.), it is nice to also have these to have a more long lasting ignition to help the kindling ignite. This package is easy to store and is reasonable priced for fire starters.

This did help me get a fire going in my little Solo Mesa, but I find it unimpressive and wouldn't get it again. It doesn't break or rip apart into the tidy squares as shown and instead sort of shredded into layers when I tried. This led me to realize that this is sort of compressed paper pulp, along with wax and/or some other combustible treatment. It's effective, but there's not anything special about it.
