Nicely finished in brushed nickel, these keep your railing just the right distance from the wall. I installed these with a new railing, and was able to go a very long distance due to having so many of these railing supports. So, I probably put them closer together than necessary, but they won't fail under heavy pressure one might put on a railing...

Must admit, I never really noticed stairway handrail brackets, until one of ours broke. This is definitely the sort of thing that, if you need it, nothing else will do. One of the old brackets (here when we bought the house over 20 years ago) simply broke in half, and when I examined it, I was amazed it lasted as long as it did. It was pot metal, thin and cheaply constructed. It was actually twisted to the point that the two pieces wouldn't even meet up to be repaired. So glad to see these brackets from Home Master Hardware offered. The pack of three that I ordered came well packaged, with each bracket in its own little bag, as well as all the necessary hardware for installation. The longer screws for the wall attachment, and the shorter screws for the handrail attachment.I could tell immediately that these brackets were of good quality -- they're a good weight, and very solid. They'll definitely do the job.I only wish they were offered in antique brass, which I prefer over bright brass. They're also offered in a satin nickel or matte black finish.I only deducted the one star due to the lack of an antique brass option. Other than that, they're really very good, and a great value, at $11.99 for the pack of three. 😀

These were easy to install, nice quality, nice look, no scratches, and I am especially impressed with the hardware. They didn’t go cheap on the quality, and they provided a couple of extra pocket screws, one of which I know I’m going to need because one popped underneath the porch.I use these to install handrail on a covered porch that sometimes gets icy in the winter. I thought I would need all five for a stretch of 10 foot railing, but three of them served well, and I have two leftover for the rest of the project. Very pleased with these, no reservations in recommending.

The description said "3" Stair Handrail Bracket" while the actual measurement is 2.87" x 2.87" as stated in one of the pictures. Maybe this is a lumber size term thing like 2" x 4" lumber is really 1-1/2" x 3-1/2"? These are the common stair handrail brackets that can be mounted horizontally or at a stair slope angle. The screw for the handrail has to be pre drilled because the handrail wood is usually so hard that the screws will break if attempted to drive with a impact driver. The wall screws have to be attached to a stud and not to the drywall to support a body weight.

A bit of material overage in the holes. Nice to have an option for variety of rails. Attach to studs for better stability.

While traditionally styled, these black railing hangers give an updated modern look. I was using my railing as a step stool (bad idea) when 2 of the existing hangers broke. They were from the early 90’s, but I used the same bottom hole, and the new hangers lined up perfectly with the railing height etc. they seem to be very nice quality, and my only suggestion would be to drill an 1/8” hole in the bannister, to avoid marring the black on the screw head or cracking the wood. There are two length screws. Longer screws for the plaster side, and slightly shorter for the attachment to railing, which makes total sense. A simple yet well designed product.
