Description:
- The lip and spur drill bit is a variation of the twist drill bit which is optimized for drilling in wood.
- Conventional twist drill bits tend to wander when presented to a flat work-piece. In wood, the lip and spur drill bit is a solution: The center of the drill bit is given not the straight chisel of the twist drill bit, but a spur with a sharp point and sharp corners to cut the wood.
- The sharp point of the spur simply pushes into the soft wood to keep the drill bit in line.

This drill bit is not as sharp as the original Kreg bit and requires more force to drill holes. Also, the collar is not suitable for drilling on 3/4 inch stock as the collar needs to sit on the bit too high and it won’t lock in place. It’s OK for a backup but if I had to do it again, I would have purchased the original. You get what you pay for.

This thing will not drill into a peace of wood. It is so dull it is like trying to drill a hole using a bolt.

Looked ok out of the package, but the collar doesn't set flat and I only got about 5 holes drilled before the bit dulled AND warped and started to rip out the edges of holes. Use was for making plug holes in hardwood, causing me lots of extra work. I do not recommend purchasing this bit.

This bit and stop collar are perfect replacements for my Kreg jig. The bit is sharp and seems to be of quite good quality. Time will tell how it lasts. I actually bought two of them to have a spare on hand.
