I thru bolted the kayak rack to my observation deck (two sections of dock bolted together) it worked great.

As others have mentioned the screws it comes with are just adequate. I used 3" star drive deck screws and had them installed on the side of my shed in 10 minutes. Holds My 10FT Kayaks with ease. Recommended.

These are designed for kayaks, and some people will indeed, use these racks for kayaks...I will be using one pair of the racks for actually holding a kayak,,,but I ordered three pairs, and the other two will be used for folding chairs, a ladder, lengths of wood, folding sawhorses, you name it...anything I can possibly put up on these racks to clear floor space in my tiny garage.The racks are substantial, they certainly look more robust than similar items I've seen at a big box store. if you use all three mounting holes to install a rack on a wall stud, you'll have a secure hanging point. The black finish doesn't rub off and the padding looks like quality rubber...it should last a long time inside...not sure how that padding will endure outside UV rays. Another nice touch was the stainless mounting screws..not zinc-coated garbage that rusts within a weekOne thing I'm not sure of....I ordered three sets of racks, and got only two of the "ceiling hooks." I don't know if that was a mistake, or if you get two ceiling hooks, no matter how many kayak racks you order. Given that I'll be putting these racks in different location, and that I have three sets, it looks like I'm one short.

Got these to hang kayaks have 2 single and 1 2 person and work great. Use 2 for each with foam pad on them and work great.
