I do cross stitch pictures and usually have some small fabric scraps left over that I can stitch to make ornaments. These 3" frames are the perfect size to put those in, to finish them as gifts. Easy to put the fabric in and then either back them with felt, or a cut bit of card stock to cover the inside back. They already have a hoop at the top to thread through for hanging as an ornament. They are just stretchy enough to get the top over the bottom and hold the fabric, but stiff enough that the fabric isn't going to slide or come out, and it keeps the fabric taught. At this price for 3, I can get a few packages and include a little ornament with my gifts this year, or they make a good gift by themselves. They are also small enough to ship easily without having to spend a lot on shipping, they will fit in a bubble wrap envelope.

I ordered these embroidery hoops in the 3" size. The listing photo indicates that the 3" diameter is for the interior opening, but that is inaccurate. The inside "stitching" space is closer to 2.5". This is actually fine with me, as I am planning to use these for Christmas decorations, and the smaller size will work great. But if you are looking for 3" of sewing space, you probably need to size up to the 4" hoop, or look for other options.I have worked with these types of hoops in the past, so I knew what to expect, but the outer ring is a rubbery ring with a wood grain print. It looks quite nice, but because this isn't adjustable like a bamboo hoop, if you are working on a thicker fabric, it can be difficult to get the outer hoop on. It is a pretty tight fit between the two hoops, even when just using standard quilting cotton.
