You can immediately tell the quality the second you take them out of their protective cover. Very heavy duty and feels like they are built to last a life time. Although it says you can't use them in a drill press I still did and they works fine.

These mortise chisel bits are generally as advertised but the machined surfaces on all four are very rough and the 3/8” bit is 1/64” small at 23/64” (see photo). The 3/8” bit is also not the same configuration as the other three sizes (see photo). The auger end of the 3/8” bit is somewhat elongated and doesn’t fit properly in the chisel conical (can see how much it sticks out the chisel end in the photos). The 3/4” diameter mounting surfaces on all four chisels are the proper diameter and well machined. The cone grind in the end of all four chisels is roughly the standard angle, but the grind surfaces on all four are quite variable and will require significant regrinding before use to be able to achieve sharp chisel edges. The chisel body machining is quite rough, but this condition is not unlike most mortise chisels on receipt. The chisel body surfaces on all four will require honing and polishing before use. The 3/8” auger extends a full 1/8” beyond the chisel points when fully seated and will extend even more when properly gapped. The other sizes all had augers that nest in the conical chisel ends well. The auger blades on the 3/8” and 1/2” bits where overheated and blued (softened) during the factory’s sharpening process (can be seen by a good eye in the photos). In general, the machining on these mortise chisels is pretty rough and will require significant effort to clean up and polish for use. The oddball 3/8” chisel will always be undersized.

These 4 pcs square drill bits are awesome! They’re super durable, cut cleanly, and fit perfectly for woodworking or mortising projects. Whether you're a DIYer or pro, this is a must-have addition to your toolbox. Solid performance and great value — I’m very happy with them!

I haven't even used these mortise drill bits yet, but i can visually see several quality control issues. There's steel shavings hanging off the inside of the 9.5mm bit from when these were machined. The faces have uneven grinding, making me suspicious that they're not even flattened. And some chamfers are cut wider in certain areas than in others and have burn marks. There are also just a lot of lose metal shavings all over everything. This is just a hastily fabricated set of mortise bits. I am being generous with 3 stars.

I struggled a little to drill a few square hole on my wooden stands with this mortise chisel tool set. Perhaps this is my first time I use this tool. I've finally got the square hole that I wanted but it was not as clean I've hoped, and due to the difficulty I had, the holes are a little bigger than necessary.
