I've had to pay exorbitant cleaning costs due to squirrel nesting in my flue, but this 6-inch chimney cap for outside solved my problem completely! Its 360-degree wraparound metal screen mesh aperture is precisely designed - the mesh is fine enough to stop critters from burrowing in, but maintains good ventilation efficiency. After installation, I deliberately sprinkled nuts around the chimney to test this chimney cap, and the result was that squirrels could only circle around the top, completely unable to break through the defense. The conical top construction also cleverly circumvents the possibility of birds staying, while the sloping cone of this one makes it impossible for birds to stand steadily. In addition, the round chimney cap is strong and difficult to deform even when attempting to pierce it with a sharp tool. After a full spring, there are no more signs of animal activity in the flue, and the fireplace venting is much smoother!
