Pleasantly surprised with the quality!Generally speaking I stick to solder brands like MG Chemicals as I know the quality is consistent… but at $6 for 4 small tubes of 60/40 solder? This is very cost effective, and the quality did not disappoint.I didn’t notice that this pack of 4 came with a pair of two different sizes until I saw the other reviews for this product. This is useful! I personally wouldn’t have minded them all being the same, but I suppose having the option will help in niche situations. If cost and quality stays relatively the same, I will be buying more in the future. I still think of the better known brands as “top shelf” solder (something I’ll save for when I want to be fancy?), but this solder I’m currently reviewing is great for most use cases I can think of. No quality complaints whatsoever. It’s really easy to work with.

Surprisingly Great Solder for the Hobbyist! As someone who dabbles in various electronics projects and occasionally tries my hand at stained glass, I've gone through my fair share of solder. When I picked up this 60/40 Rosin Core Solder Wire set, I wasn't expecting anything particularly groundbreaking, especially considering the price point. However, I've been pleasantly surprised by its performance for my not-so-professional endeavors! The fact that this set comes with four spools – two of the finer 0.8mm and two of the slightly thicker 1mm – is incredibly convenient. It’s like having the right tool for different jobs readily available. For delicate circuit board repairs on an old stereo, the 0.8mm wire flowed beautifully, allowing for precise connections without creating messy blobs. Then, when I decided to tackle a small stained glass piece, the 1mm wire provided a more substantial bead, making the joins feel solid and secure.I really appreciated how easy this solder is to work with. The melting point feels just right; my basic soldering iron heated it up quickly and evenly. The rosin core seemed to do its job perfectly, providing smooth flow and excellent wetting. I didn't experience any frustrating dry joints or the solder balling up, which can be a common annoyance with cheaper solders. It just melted cleanly and bonded well, which is exactly what you need when you're not aiming for NASA-level precision but still want a reliable connection. While the safety warning about lead is definitely something to take seriously – and I made sure to work in a well-ventilated area and wash my hands thoroughly afterward – it’s a standard caution for this type of solder. For anyone just starting out with soldering for hobbies like electronics repairs, basic wiring, or even crafting with stained glass, this set offers great value and reliable performance. It’s a fantastic option for those of us who need a dependable solder without breaking the bank or requiring a specialized skillset. I'd definitely recommend this to fellow hobbyists looking for a solid, all-around solder wire.

Easy to melt and just works perfectly. Not sure what else to say. I like this thin solder. One tip I will give I have figured out. Use your crimp connect ends and pick a size bigger than the wire you want to solder to it. take this thin solder and wrap it around the bare wire a few times and tuck it in the connection. Slide the plastic sleeve up the wire so you can slide it back down when done. Hit it with a solder iron or pen torch and you will never have a bad crimp connection screw you over again. The plastic sleeve slides down perfectly and round and not smashed to hell. I like this thin solder, it is all I use anymore.

Ordered this rosin core wire to repair a few household electronics with failed solder connections. I’m not an expert on soldering but have done many repairs over the years on lamps, RC cars and other small electrical equipment. This solder worked perfectly for a couple small projects I’d been saving to work on. Good solder flow and easy to apply. Solder produced a solid wire to wire and wire to circuit board connection. I used no flux on the wire to wire and got better results than no flux wire without a Rosin core. For me and my small household projects this solder was easy to use and the tube feed design is preferable to me over the spool.Had a couple hazy joints which could be from not running my iron hot enough at first or not cleaning off the previous solder as well as I should have.no issues on later connections at higher temps with new connections previously solder free.My grading scaleMy ratings are based on one or more of the following characteristics. Please note I consider 4 stars a very high rating.* 1 Star - unsatisfactory - poor quality - misleading or false ad copy - would not recommend to anyone* 2 Stars - below expectations, needs improvement - inferior materials And/Or design - poor value* 3 Stars - meets reasonable expectations of quality, design and durability at the price point* 4 Stars - Exceeded expectation - above average performance of materials, design and craftsmanship - good value - would recommend* Five stars - Truly outstanding - exceptional quality and design - exceeded all expectations of materials, design, craftsmanship, durability and value.
