This is one of those hybrid type light stands that is built more like a tripod. It makes them much easier to deploy and much more agile. Your typical white stands can be quite unwieldy. than your typical white stand. But you do sacrifice a bit of sturdiness. That being said, this thing is plenty sturdy. It’s a real winner as long as you’re not trying to hold up 30 pound lights.

This is an exceptional light stand. It's designed primarily to be compact and portable, not robust. In spite of that, however, it's surprisingly sturdy and stable. The aluminum poles are precisely machined and fit/move really well. The range of adjustable heights is impressive and the compact size when broken down is impressive.This isn't a tripod like you'd put an SLR on--it's a lightweight light stand. It will hold strobes, action cameras, and modest-sized studio lights & gear just fine, but isn't suitable for heavy objects like an SLR with a telephoto lens.

I am a photographer and the truth is that I liked it a lot. It is light, not heavy, but at the same time it is strong. It worked great for me to set up some lights to record videos. It is super easy to put together.
