It was way overdue when I finally ordered this kit. We really needed coded, individual buffing wheels for each step. I had been taking the ‘final’ wheel and moving it back a step, to a rougher grit. Then I would put a brand new buffing wheel into service for the finest grit. To me, it made economic sense, but in reality, it was a disaster in the making. I finally listened to my son, after he got taste of what I have gone through HIS entire life, and started looking.This kit comes with the properly made, color coded wheels for each stage of buffing. It comes with the essential polishing compounds that you will need to start or to add to your pile, I mean COLLECTION, of various grades.Inspired by this kit, we will move from a single, two-sided buffer, to at least TWO double sided buffers. I especially want the white wheel, meant for the finest compound to be completely separate from the other wheels. It only takes a speck of a coarse compound to create ‘grooves’ during your final polishing. Ask me how I know! Cleanliness is essential to successful buffing and a big part of that is preventing cross contamination.Having a metal center with a common arbor size is a good idea. I have all cloth buffing wheels that are held by a tapered mandrel on a shaft. A dedicated hole in a metal center is especially helpful if you need to change the wheels often. Sometimes, I end up making the hole in a cloth center wheel too large to be held on the taper on the machine. The wheels with this kit have a dedicated metal center. High grade buffing wheels like these can come with a BIG hole in the center so that you can use a two-piece flange to hold the wheel on your machine. This can be a PITA when you need to make repeated wheel changes. This is one of the ways that my children learned colorful language, when I dropped a pristine buffing wheel on a VERY dirty floor, trying to get it attached by the flanges.I gave this item 5 stars. It has everything you need to start with as a beginner, or it hands you everything that you should have purchased years ago, if you are stuck in your old ways, like I am.

I got these for one specific job--rebuilding and converting an old smoker. And they worked great! I was rebuilding an old cabinet smoker into an insulated, vertical reverse flow smoker, and I needed to polish the outer wall so I could apply a brushed finish and an anodized overcoat. It took a while, but this kit plus a bit of detail work by hand and that smoker was super shiny. Doing the brushed finish is going to be for next weekend and the anodized coat will probably be a couple weeks out, but ultimately, this is going to be an awesome looking smoker! Definitely one of the coolest builds I've done. I used these with a 9" Dewalt grinder with an extender rod and adapter. I highly recommend the extender rod, because that makes it easier to see around the blade guard so you can see right where you're polishing. Other than the extender, this kit has everything you need to make your metal really shine. I'm sure I'll find plenty more projects to use this on, but for now, it seems to do a really great job!

I picked up the RoamRider 8” Airway Buffing Wheel Kit to get a mirror finish on stainless steel weld joints, which is something I’ve been doing more often lately as part of some project work. I don’t have a bench grinder in my garage—just a solid 7-inch angle grinder that I’ve come to rely on for a lot of metal cleanup—and I was pleased to see this kit was compatible with it right out of the box. The 5/8” arbor fit without a fight, and even without needing a safety flange, everything mounted securely, which saved me a lot of fussing around.One of the things I liked right off the bat was the color-coding of the wheels. I’ve used enough buffing setups to know how annoying it can be to guess which compound or wheel is supposed to come next, and this one took that question out of the mix. The different stages of polishing were easy to follow, and it was nice to work up from rougher to finer grit without needing to stop and label anything myself. The included compounds were decent—nothing exotic, but effective—and they made sense in the progression.The real test was how the wheels would perform on my stainless welds. I wasn’t sure if they’d have enough give and flex to handle the tight curves and transitions on my workpieces, but they were surprisingly adaptable. There’s a balance between firmness and pliability that’s important with airway wheels, and these seemed to hit it just right. I’ve used the kit for three polishing sessions so far, and there’s very little noticeable wear on the wheels. That’s not to say they’ll last forever, but I think they’re built to hold up over several jobs if you’re not pushing them too aggressively.The one thing I’d caution potential buyers about is that these really aren’t ideal for high-speed tools. If all you have is a smaller, high-RPM angle grinder, I’m not sure these wheels will give you the same longevity. At those speeds, I imagine the centrifugal force would wear the wheels down quickly or cause them to fray prematurely. The materials and stitching feel solid, but they’re clearly designed with lower-speed polishers in mind—your typical bench grinder or a slower angle grinder with enough torque to get the job done without over-revving.There’s no fancy carrying case or storage solution, so if you’re someone who likes to keep polishing stages separated and organized, you might want to pick up some containers or even just label your own bags. That’s a small thing, though. The important part is that this kit gives you a good finish with relatively low effort, and it doesn't feel disposable after a few uses. It’s not a perfect setup for everyone, especially if your tool selection is limited, but if you’ve got the right grinder and a few metal surfaces to shine up, this kit makes a very solid impression.

Four piece airway buffing kit comes with four different buffing pads. Also includes a five piece selection of rouge bars to handle just about any buffing need. Whether your looking to remove some minor scratches or polishing up a new piece you will find this kit has it covered and some. Fit perfectly on my buffer and the buffs ran true with very little vibration.

Good set. Still a little nervous using these in an angle grinder but they’ve held up so far and seem fairly well balanced. Good size, good value and great polishing - no complaints!
