Love these brushes! I had never seen them before and thought I'd try them out at a small class I was doing, so I didn't need to have water bowls all over. They worked beautifully and members of the class seemed to like them. Fun to use!Great for on the go or just at home.

If you put aside the question of landfill waste with things that are super inexpensive and not made to last, these are decent enough. They work, if not particularly well. They don't seal well and will drip, but if you're careful about angles you're holding them at relative to your work, they can make do. The benefits (?) of not having to dip a brush are a little iffy, in retrospect, though. You lose control of how wet the bristles are, and risk drips to... save a second dipping? So, yeah, if you're careful and moving your brush from your work to your water is too much effort, these may be a good option for you!

I am very happy with this budget set of eight water brushes. All brushes in the set have the same small size, round brush tip. I find this size comfortable to hold, and easy to control while doing watercolor painting, or brush lettering. The bristles are flexible, but also have some snap and retain their shape. The brushes have a controlled water flow - wet but not dripping. If you prefer less water, just keep a paper towel handy for dabbing. They clean up easily, but the bristles are white so expect some permanent color changes if you're painting with staining colors (Phthalo colors, Cadmiums, Quinacridones, Alizarin Crimson, etc.) It's easy to replace the caps without splaying the bristles. If you're not used to using water brushes, to fill them you'll need to unscrew the nib section from the body of the brush by twisting it COUNTERclockwise. I don't think that's intuitive, but it's fairly common with this type of brush.Generally speaking, I love the flexibility of water brushes with watercolor and gouache paints since you can just put the water in the brush and take them wherever you want to go without juggling jars of water. The brushes in this set hold a generous amount of water. If you're planning to do a lot of painting outside, take a couple of filled brushes with you.

These water pens don't hold the water properly.
