Piece of crap- The lock arrived today, I followed directions to set a code. It never opened again. The "key" is a cheap piece of metal, and the tab on the key broke off in the lock the third time I tried to reset it. Now I have no options. I'm returning it.

My son bought this brand of padlock for his shipping container. I liked it so much that I bought two more for my shipping container. Very sturdy and well built

This is a very heavy-duty high security lock. On-line videos show that this lock is difficult to defeat. Easy to set the combination with security features that prevent picking the key hole that is used to set the combination.

This is the best padlock on the market. I have tried others. I love it - well made, well engineered! My only complaints are:1. With my 70 year old eyes, it is hard to see the combination without a fairly bright light.2. The shackle diameter is almost half an inch. The shackle is too thick for most door bolts and hasps. You'll need an ABUS hasp, which is another $90. With the hasp and lock, I am out $160. For a padlock!Don't forget, security is as strong as the weakest link. The Great Wall of China was breeched four times, not by force, but by bribing gatekeepers!

This this is a very sturdy lock, and locks up a shed, it is the most robust part on the shed.I would caution anyone looking at this to make sure that their application has enough space for the very thick shackle. What I’m using it on is robust and designed for a beefy lock and it just barely is large enough to accommodate. Also, the size of the shielding around the lock makes the lock not sit flat against The building. I don't mind it being tilted up at a 45° angle, but I could see some situations in which it wouldn’t work. If you’re going to use this on a bike, make sure that you have a sturdy enough chain to mount it to if you put this on a traditional chain, you’re not doing yourself any favors as it’s easier to just cut the chain than it is to cut this lock

Solid lock so farAccidentally dropped it and it fully reset and won’t lock again- trying to fix currentlyCan’t get ahold of support, lock won’t lock again. Ordered a new lock to use the new key and did the whole reset process and it’s not working. Pretty bummed as this is fairly pricey

I believe this is literally the only combination padlock extant in the world which has been recommended by multiple respected locksmiths including the Lockpicking Lawyer's partner Bosnian Bill. It's actually quite reasonably priced considering high security key padlocks typically run $100 and more. They addressed all of the major combination lock attack vectors, including wheel decoding shims, pressure-based decoding, shims into the body, shims into the shackle, a high shackle guard to resist bolt cutting and angle grinders, reset keyhole visual attacks, and general physical attacks. It's really quite a bargain considering the engineering and construction gone into it. If someone knows of any other combination lock which can withstand all of these attacks, please do post a review here so the we can find it.My only wish is that they made a version with a smaller shackle that could be used on a wider range of applications but the simple work around is to use lockout shackle adapters. It does make it quite a bit larger and you'll need to customize the lockout shackle adapter a bit to accommodate this massive shackle. Hey Abus, since you've already figured out how to make un-decodable padlocks, can you extend the line and make some smaller shackle versions?I guess another wish list item would be to add a fifth code wheel so that it could be rated as a level 10 lock.

If this lock actually worked, it would have been the lock I needed, sure the numbers could be larger and more visible but at first glance it appears to be the strong lock I need but if it only worked. You can spin through many or all the possible combinations until it finally opens but when you lock this lock again it sets itself to a random combination leaving you to go through the hours and hours and hours of spinning through combinations trying to find the elusive combination and this continues even if once opened, you attempt to use the key and reset a new combination for when you remove the key and relock the lock it once again sets itself to a random combination different from the combination which was chosen as the new combination. If all this is not bad enough, the lock dials are getting very hard to turn and I believe they will eventually very soon be nearly impossible to turn even if oiled. This lock will be returned if I can do so and from the reviews I have seen left for this lock I will not accept a replacement as I have very strong reason to believe that the replacement lock will have a very high likelihood of being no better then this one and it will need to be returned also, IS THIS BECOMING THE QUALITY OF MERCHANDISE SOLD ON THE AMAZON WEBSITE???????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got this lock on Amazon warehouse deals and it turned out that someone changed default combination before it got to me, so it wouldn't open. Because of that, I tried several common attacks to see if it would open, including feeling for any binding in the wheels/shackle, a bypass attack as well as a typical brute force (try each combination) individually. I'm no expert at all when it comes to these but I have been successful with each of these in other locks I own as I like to keep my professional security skills well-rounded ;-)Bypass attack (the easiest way to open combination locks) didn't work because the number wheels are well-fitted and tolerances are great. I also couldn't really make enough progress with guessing or brute force methods because you need to press down on the shackle and then pull to see if the locking pawls retract vs applying pressure directly on the locking mechanism. Ultimately, a good keyed lock like Abus 20/70 or 20/80 is much more secure but this will definitely thwart unskilled attacks. The lock itself is also heavy duty with a beefy shroud so physical attacks will be also be difficult without the use of power tools. Basically, most thieves will likely move on to easier targets unless you have something they really want.

This lock started off strong and working properly. At first my only gripes were that the combination was difficult to manipulate and the requirement to push the shackle deep made it difficult to use a heavy gauge chain.About a month ago it became incredibly difficult to open and close the shackle so I hit it with some WD-40 which helped a little. The relief has been temporary but I tolerated it due to the perceived strength of the lock. That all changed yesterday. After less than a year of service, the lock slipped out of my hands, again, fighting to push the shackle in place. It hit the concrete and the shackle guard cracked open.If you look at the pictures you can see the inner material, which looks nothing like solid steel. I'm not sure exactly what this is made of but I expect more out of a $50+ lock.Abus needs to be reminded that they are not in the business of locks, they are in the business of piece of mind. Since I have no confidence in the quality of the product. It is useless to me and I do not recommend it to anyone who wants a heavy gauge lock and the peace of mind that comes with.

Im amazed some people who buy a cheap lock for their expensive items they are trying to protect,so many videos on youtube showing how easy to pick or cut these locks.Well the Abus may not be perfect but the combo lock with the protective collar and high grade materials makes it lot more difficult to break into your valuable items your storing. This lock screams quality from the heavy weight and the protective ring and collar.Add into the mix of a tumbler lock this is a amazing padlock.Easy to readjust the combinations with the provided key and this lock is has to be one of the best locks for the price range.
