I was disappointed at first, but it was user error. This generates good power and gets me what I need. I run two 34" extra wide monitors, and two 24" and I don't have any laggy issues. With my laptop on, I'm running a total of 5 screens.

Does what it says - running three screens off my MacBook :).... using thunderbolt 5 ports from the laptop to this dock and it works well and is a lot cheaper than a Thunderbolt 5 dock at the moment.

You will need to download drivers, I highly recorded getting fans. They’re not 100% “necessary”, but it gets hot and electronics don’t like heat for extended periods of time.

My Thinkpad has only one Thunderbolt 4 port, and it is also used for power/charging, so I wanted a way to use TB4 while operating from mains power. This dock is the right solution. It provides plenty of power, and all the features work, but I did need to install the DisplayLink driver in order to use (any of) the video ports. Fortunately the drivers are available for Linux, which is my OS of choice.I don't think it's a problem with the dock, but Linux has some issues with hot-plugging PCIe devices. Things work great with the computer booted with the dock connected, and the TB4 devices connected to the dock. If a TB4 device is removed and re-connected while the system is operating, it does not get enumerated into the same spot, and may end up with less operating bandwidth.Specifically, if I boot with a 40gbps SSD connected, it enumerates as /dev/nvme1n0 and operates at full speed. If disconnected and re-attached, the logs show that the PCIe address space is unavailable, so it enumerates as a 20gbps device on /dev/sda. This may be a Linux-specific issue with the way PCIe space is enumerated, and I've read that things may have improved with the next (beta) Linux 6.13 kernel.

Update 2: No additional issues since the driver update. I do still have an issue with the external screen being black to those viewing remotely. I have a co-worker with a *different* dock who had this same issue and the DisplayLink drivers solved it for them. My guess is that this will eventually get sorted on the Acer dock.Update 1: support requested I update the DisplayLink drivers and the problem went away.Original review: While it was working, it seemed to work well except for screenshare of an external monitor through a slack huddle was always a black screen to the remote viewer. I have a feeling this is a DisplayLink problem - not necessarily a problem with this hub.The hub stopped working entirely today. The laptop immediately shuts off when the hub cable is plugged into the laptop. It isn't a graceful power down, it is instant. Powering back up, Windows complains about not being shut down properly. It has a two-year warranty. Surprisingly acer.com doesn't have anything to do with this hub. It is through a subsidiary company of Acer called Acer Gadget (acer-gadget-store-global.com) operated by New Ease Tech. We'll see how this "we're committed to providing you with exceptional service" warranty replacement goes.

Downloaded the recommended latest software from internet in order to work. At first it works. Two 2560x1600 monitors worked, no problem. Connect third 4K monitor and start to notice slow downs. Connecting 4th 4K monitor causes noticeable lag. Two 4K monitor at 60hz and two 2560x1600 60hz monitor is bad. Not what I expected. Also I needed the 2.5Gbps Ethernet to do constant full transfer of files, in which with everything running through my thunderbolt 4 usb c, cause massive lag. I'm better off just connecting that same thunderbolt 4 to my 2 display and using the other thunderbolt 4 for an external dedicated 10Gbps Ethernet port. For what I was using it for, this product did not work for me.Also later on, the software started having issues and not working properly, causing me not to be able to get 4K 60hz on my monitors. Instead I started getting only 4k 30hz max and it was laggy. These docking stations are a waste of money and not worth it in the end when it has so much problems and requires you to go search and download a driver (not provided) in order for it to work and not only that, has issues and not work properly. Not only all that, it's also big and bulky and takes space on the desk that I don't need.Completely waste of money and space. Not worth buying when there are better ways of doing things.

This is my first dock and I was excited to set it up and get rock solid connections to my monitor and ethernet, while charging--all from a single cable. I have a MacBook Pro that is a few years old (Intel) and have been using USB-C video to my ultra-wide monitor, WiFi, and a separate power brick for charging. I recently rewired my house to use ethernet wherever I can since our WiFi had a lot of congestion and was sometimes dropping connections. The USB-C video connection to my monitor has also started disconnecting and reconnecting, causing the screen to go black for a few seconds. The ethernet/thunderbolt connection works, but it took a while to show up as an option. The charging is a solid 96W with no other USB connections. But the monitor over HDMI with "DisplayLink" is where this dock falls apart for me. I also wanted to use this dock with my work laptop, but that won't be happening because this dock requires you to download and install proprietary drivers. Most companies won't allow this. The DisplayLink driver integrates into your system and "records" your screen and then streams it to the external monitor. In practice this makes the picture slightly blurry and there is a small but definitely noticeable delay when moving a mouse cursor, clicking a button, typing, etc. The dock also will not produce any video output without the DisplayLink driver installed and running. For this price I had hoped for a better quality picture, but I definitely learned that DisplayLink is not for me.
