A Saute Pan scores high points for versatility. They have a larger surface area so you can fit lots of ingredients, stir them or toss them around, and have them cook evenly. Meanwhile, their straight sides are not too short or too tall, keeping oils from splattering and foods from flying out of the pan, so there’s less to clean after. As part of our D3 Collection, this Saute pan features a bonded tri-ply construction made with a responsive aluminum core pressed together with 2 layers of durable, stainless steel all the way around the surface, for fast and even heat. At a whooping 6 quarts, it’s large enough to cook for a small gathering or for the family and have enough for leftovers. To keep your All-Clad looking brand new, we recommend washing your cookware with a soap and sponge instead of the dishwasher. Like all our bonded cookware, it's handmade in the USA at our Canonsburg, PA factory with ultra-durable materials that'll last a lifetime and never go out of style. A flat, stainless-steel lid is included to lock in moisture. Handles & handle loops are made in China.

A sturdy, well built pan with great heat distribution. Run it on low to medium low and let it heat thru. Then add oil and let it come to temp before putting food in. Oh and not food straight out of the fridge. Cold food will drain the heat from the pan and not give the desired cooking. Only real issue I have is hard to get cooking surface clean. I'm not talking about food sticking. Above steps help stop that. Not sure if it is hard water or what, but I end up with cloudy spots on the cooking surface after washing. I was with hot water and one of those green sided sponges. No amount of scrubbing removes it. I wash, rinse and dry immediately. Tried the white vinegar trick with no success. Have bar keepers stainless pan cleaner (powder form), not used it yet, but don't want to have to use it every time I cook something. Having same issue on other All-clad pans I purchased. Just unsightly to see. Does not effect the use of the pan.

With the diameter of a sauté pan, and enough height to prevent slopping over when stirring, this is an extremely powerful kitchen tool. We use it for chili, Bacalao a la Vizcaina, curries, greens, potatoes...It fits perfectly on our large burners, front or back, with the rim, even with the lid on, slipping under the control panel of our GE stove.Doesn't feel quite as heavy as the D5 6-qt Essential pan (a shallower, wider saute pan--like a shallow wok) we use for smothered recipes, but it distributes heat quickly and evenly.Six quarts is a good volume for our family of four. We can make a bit over a gallon of chili, while leaving plenty of "slosh" room for stirring.Only negative is difficulty cleaning a tiny area between the handle and the rim. If crud does get in there, I just use a pipe cleaner or tiny brush, but usually I can just use the crease of a paper towel. This is a welcome compromise, though, as the highest possible placement of the handle keeps it well above the hot burners!Ok, maybe there is another con, and that's the high price. In terms of durability, I can't say that I see any meaningful difference between All-Clad and higher-end Cuisinart, but so many of the Cuisinart pots this size use glass lids, which we see as a deal-breaker. Furthermore, this pot's design and size is very hard to find, though I think it is going to be a "most-used" pot for anybody who buys it.

This is the workhorse of my kitchen. I use it almost daily and it never leaves my stove. I just wash it up, dry it, and set it back on the burner for the next day. Easy to clean, heats evenly, and is so versatile. It is my go-to pan for Asian stir fry. I have a solid surface electric cook top, and cannot get a wok hot enough on it. But this pan can get screaming hot like you need for stir fry. I've used it for a full year now, and it has never warped. I've made pasta, chili, soup, assorted saute dishes - you name it! Best pan I have ever owned and it will be handed down to my daughters, I am sure. Watch for sales. I picked mine up for about $100. Lucky.

This was larger than I expected, and it's heavy, too. At first, I was thinking that it was just too much for me to handle, but after using it for awhile, I've decided I love this pan. It's so big, that I can fit everything into it without crowding, and that totally changes they way things cook. Everything comes out so good! I'm finally getting a good sear on stuff, and stir-fry comes out fried, and not steamed. Stuff doesn't stick, either...pierogies, potstickers...no sticking. I clean it up with Barkeeper's Friend. Works like a charm.

This Sauté pan is huge, easily hanging over the edge of my burners by ~2 inches. Allclad can't be beat, if you're looking at this you know how well built these are. Lifetime warranty, and super heavy duty... these pots are the best.I got this as a step up from the 3qt pot, but WOW it is much larger. This is great for things like risotto where you want them to have space to spread out. I just dont have an element big enough to heat the whole pan. So, if you're not cooking with gas, that might be an issue for you too...

A friend, who is an amazing cook introduced me the incomparable All Clad products. I had , of course, heard of them but never realized the quality and the difference they can make in cooking. I purchased the 5 quart pan with lid, fell in love with it and bought one for my daughter, who loves it too. It's beautiful and functional. Food cooks so evenly in it. I just love it! Yes, it's a little pricey but considering it's almost the only pan you need , it's totally worth it. Will by more for home and for my daughter!

I waited almost a year before buying this saute pan since I already had a decent Tfal saute pan and had a hard time justifying the expense for something I only use maybe once a month. I'm glad I got this pan and probably won't need to buy another for the rest of my life. This pan is solid, well-made, and looks to last a lifetime. They'll find this in the ashes after a meteor ends life on Earth.Unfortunately nothing is perfect, and this set has its problems. The lid is functionally junk. It's beautiful and solidly made, but because there are no holes to let steam escape, boilovers occur around the entire rim of the pan, making a mess. I'm thinking of drilling a hole into the lid to use as a vent hole. It's basically the same lid they sell for $50 and it's not tri-ply or clad like the rest of the pan, so marring it with a hole wouldn't feel too bad. Also note that this lid does not fit on the All-Clad 12" stainless fry pan.The saute pan gets 5 stars, but the set only 4 because of the poorly designed lid.
