This is the first ice making machine I’ve ever owned, the ice maker on our refrigerater went out and I got tired of making ice, I run it usually every other day, I did try making two rounds of ice in one day and it made a squealing sound, I think it may have gotten too hot, the next time I used it there was no sound. It’s fairly quiet, not any louder than a microwave. Ice tastes good, I do use filtered water from both the faucet and then a filtered water pitcher. We have fairly hard water so I do descale it more frequently to extend the life of it. I would recommend it if you don’t need a lot of ice, for one or two people max. I’ve not tried running it more than once to know whether or not it made that noise again. I generally stick to every other day, summer coming it might end up every day. For my needs it’s been a good machine.

I somehow overlooked how often it needed cleaned. Quite a bit more than my previous ice maker. I let the texture and size and ho quickly it makes ice though. Simple to operate but needs cleaning very often per manual.

Great appliance! A little noisy for my small studio, but I have learned to tune it out (most of the time). It is not refrigerated, so the ice does slowly melt in the bin, but it is constantly making new ice. In fact, it makes it surprisingly fast. I find myself refilling it a lot, not because the reservoir is particularly small, but because it's so convenient to grab ice for everything. As for ease of cleaning, it was a little bit confusing the first time I did it, but customer service walked me through the steps and then it was back up and running just fine. As for looks I think it is pretty compact considering, and I think the build feels like it was made with quality materials. Overall, it is a workhorse in my kitchen, and I think for the convenience it's fantastic. I would buy it again, no questions asked!!

Love this ice machine. It’s much bigger than our last one! Don’t like that there’s not a place to hang the scoop but I made my own.

Not a bad product. Just not what was expecting.Pros - Easy to use. Set up is simple. Ice is the nice nugget size. It’s relatively quick considering the size of the unit. It is small and compact and fits easily on a countertop. Seems solidly built.Cons - Does not hold a lot of ice. In fact there might be a design flaw in how the ice comes out. It has a sensor for when the ice bucket is full, but the ice chute that the ice travels to enter the storage bucket is where the sensor is. So you get a pyramid affect that looks like a traffic jam of ice. Causing the ice sensor to think it’s full of ice, when in reality it’s not even 25% full. If you want the full capacity of the ice available, you have to routinely scoop away the ice from the chute so it doesn’t think it’s full. Additionally, the capacity of ice it holds is not that much either. For one person, or a college dorm it might be ok (assuming said dorm isn’t hosting a party). But for using in a home setting, definitely not the right fit. For the price point this had versus similar products, I was expecting more.

Let's be honest: you're here because you want an Opal but can't justify spending $400-600 on a freaking ice maker.*Ease of use: The most complicated part of this ice maker is making sure the drainage plug is firmly inserted, as it won't operate otherwise. Take it out of the box, wipe it down, and run a 15-minute cleaning cycle before the first use. It's one-button operation--press once to make ice or hold for a few seconds to start the cleaning cycle.*Quality of ice: If you're a "Sonic ice" purist, this isn't the machine for you. The nuggets are smaller and a little harder than the Opal's nuggets, but they have a satisfying mouth feel and crunch, especially after they've been in a drink.*Noise: All ice machines make noise--that's unavoidable. When this one is humming along, it's comparable to a microwave. I put mine in the garage, and it's not like the walls are shaking from the vibrations.*Quantity of ice: The bin isn't enormous--this isn't the machine you want for an ice-loving family of four. A full bin is enough to fill at least a couple of big tumblers. NB: if you follow the instructions and move the ice around in the bin during the production cycle, you'll get more ice because the machine won't mistakenly think the bin is full.*Bottom line: Is this ice maker going to revolutionize the beverage industry? No, but it's easy to operate, it does what it says on the box, and it doesn't cost as much as a car payment.
