Does not have any foghorn similarity at all. It is definitely loud! Makes a good high end noise maker, but does not have the nautical sound I was hoping for (despite the warnings of other reviewers).

It's well made and perhaps it's a miniature of a fog horn. However, it sounds more like a duck call than a fog horn.

This horn works just fine, but sounds a bit like a duck. Not a sexy sound. It is decorative and functional.

I bought this for my boyfriend for Christmas, as he does pirate and nautical living history re-enactment. It was actually far nicer than I expected it to be. Very sturdy, solid, and well-made. Sounds amazing! Clear sound, can be very loud, though you can also sound it more quietly if you choose. I was pretty impressed with it, and would recommend it for anyone who would appreciate a working piece of nautical history.
