We keep it plugged in all winter in a 300 gallon uninsulated livestock water tank. Even at 20 below, never even have a hint of ice in the tank.

We used this in a 100 gallon water through. Wind chills were -4 degrees actual temperature 9 degrees Fahrenheit. It worked great. At one point we looked out and the water was steaming.

I have two of these, the price had substantially increased from the year prior (COVID) and the original one I purchased died after two seasons. Great heater for the original price I paid, would not buy again at the price it is now. When it’s working it does keep the horses trough completely thawed in all weather (last night was -38 feels like -45 Celsius). The original heater that died was used in an insulated chicken coop.

This product really works beautifully. I have used many different stock tank de-icers while caring for my Thoroughbred horses through the years in the winter time. This one is the very best, hands down of them all. I currently have it in a 100 gal galvanized water tank and have not had any ice at all on the surface while our temperatures have been near 0 overnight.

We have 5 horses we feed and water throughout the cold idaho winter. 10 years ago or so we bought a submersible heater that looks like a circular wire cage surrounding a heated core. This product lasted us many years, so when it finally died we bought another. It definitely wasn't made the same, as after only one year it died. Thinking it must be a fluke, (because the first one lasted so long,) we bought another one this fall (but wisely kept the receipt.) After about a month it died too, but this time we were able to return it and get our money back. Got online hunting for something better, and settled on this API stock tank heater. It was more money then the other model but we wanted something that actually worked! It's been 4 months now and it still keeps the ice melted even in sub-zero weather. Would highly recommend this product over the other style.

This heater would not even get warm. I pruchased and had delivery Oct. 15th, today Nov.-12th. I pluged it in and put it in my Koi pond for the very first time...NOTHING, NOT EVEN WARM.. I ASKED AMAZON FOR RETURN AND WAS TOLD I COULD NOT RETURN IT EVEN THOUGH IT HAS A ONE YEAR WARRANTY..REALLY!! Am I missing something? The Plecostomus fish in my pond will die if they can not find a warmer area to cluster around. Right now the water temp is 40 degrees and colder temps are forcasted for tomarrow.

We bought this to use in 50 gallon Rubbermaid horse troughs. Works well. Construction is much better than the less expensive galvanized heaters. This de-icer comes with a plastic stand so it is not in contact with the bottom of the trough. Heavy enough that it easily stays on the bottom. The heat fins dissipate the heat very well, so I'm not worried about "hot" spots on the de-icer, especially in a shallow application like the 50 gallon horse trough, where the horse could touch it. Nice plus is the cord protector to make it a little safer for a curious horse. Best of all is NO RUST from the de-icer or the stand - everything is coated or plastic. Definitely worth the price difference compared with the typical galvanized loop heater.

Good sturdy heater. I wish the cord was a little longer so I could sink it to the bottom of my pond. But it will likely keep the ice from freezing better closer to the surface.
