Its been a while since I bought it, its a good buy for the beginner who wants to experiment with a grip. the cable doesn't get in the way, but its kind of awkward to look at, in the one I got the battery door doesn't fit where it should go int he grip, so thats kind of annoying, but over all its a good product.

NOTE: This item is supplied by Fotodiox in Illinois.I ordered this for my Canon T3 to assist in taking portrait shots as it's ergonomics leads to better hand placement and access to the shutter release built into this unit. After reading the confusing, obviously poorly translated instruction sheet, I began to install the grip. This should be a very easy task for just about anyone as there's not too much one could do wrong to connect this improperly. As I began to turn the small, exposed portion of the black plastic dial that turns the metal screw into the tripod/plate hole in the bottom of my camera I heard a snap. Not only heard the snap but felt the plastic dial go limp and turn freely without effect on the tension of the unit/camera fit. Obviously, the plastic around the metal screw had either broken or stripped completely. Now this grip was about 75% tightened to the T3 body; I couldn't tighten it up to secure it but I couldn't loosen it to remove it either. I looked inside the battery compartment of the grip hoping to gain access to the screw that was holding the grip to my camera. No go. That internal area was partitioned by a molded plastic barrier.I called Fotodiox and informed the customer service rep of the issue. I told her that the only way I would be able to remove this grip was to manually dissect it (cut it open) and detach it from my camera. I was transferred to another line where I left my name and phone number. I never heard back from them.I ended up calling Amazon CS and the Amazon rep initiated a conference call between us and Fotodiox. It was the same lady I had spoken to the first time I called. She acknowledged that I had called earlier but offered no excuse or apology for not contacting me back. She was rude not just to me but to the Amazon red as well who ended up basically ending the call due to the constant interruption and general rudeness of the lady from Fotodiox. To make a long story a little shorter, the issue was resolved by Amazon via an account credit. I can't say I would recommend the Aperture Battery Grip to a fellow photographer but I would most certainly warn them to steer clear of any item supplied by Fotodiox.
