Wood panels are a portable, durable alternative to canvas. Use this panel for painting, encaustics, mixed media projects, crafts and more! Wood panels resist flexing or warping, making them great for painting, especially thick, heavy applications and palette knife work, as well as encaustic, mixed media and craft use as a shadow box, frame or tray. The surface is smooth for detailed work and mounting, while the cradle allows you to hang your finished work with no need for frame!

This is a nice and affordable art panel, which I have used as a professional artist. The cradled panel makes it ready to hang without framing. I usually gesso the surface.

All the boards were great and perfectly smooth on the top/face. Two boards had very small imperfections on one of their sides (like a splinter or thin shard got pulled up instead of left alone). I probably could have sanded them smooth or put a little putty over them, but I put two layers of Kilz on all sides anyway. If you are using thin paint to pour, all the edges will be slightly bare/less paint will stick after it settles and dries, so next time I’ll probably lightly sand the edges of the front of one to see if it helps. I had no problem with thicker paint pouring and blowing over the edges. Some reviewers complained about the wood being wavy. If you look at it from an angle it does look wavy, but after a layer of gesso or Kilz, it’s perfectly smooth, so I think it was just a little deceiving for some. When painting on canvas I put down so many layers, even on pre-primed, because I like it as smooth as possible. These wood boards were so nice to paint on. I’m sure I could have put a single layer of Kilz on and been fine. For smaller pieces, I’ll be doing a lot more on wood and I’m not going to bother with another company after reading so many reviews and receiving such a good product from this company. I haven’t priced the larger pieces yet.I’ll update this review if there’s any change in quality in my next order from this company.

We ended up using some of these for wooden boxes for wedding favors. They are so great. Handy. Turned them over later for painting.

I love painting on these wooden panels. I use acrylic paints and they go on so smoothly. It is easy to do any blending on these and you can varnish afterwards. I normally paint the sides black. Love that you can buy a 4 pack here.

I Woodburn game boards. They turned out nice. I like the smooth texture.

These are fabulous for beginners and those who muck up often and have to paint over what they've got. They're well constructed and hold up to the rigors of fluid acrylics, as well as traditional painting, without sagging. A quick spritz of water on the back of the canvas tightens them back up in a jiffy.

These painting panels are fine quality wood. They have nice sturdy frames and are perfect for acrylics. I think I prefer them to canvas.
