I got this to help back up my Synology system after an energy spike damaged 2 drives. after rebuilding the drives, i was able to start the backup process. I was surprised on how easy it is to mount other non-Synology Nas drives. There are YouTube videos on how to do this. I have not tested the ethernet 10gb connections as I am limited at the moment to 1 and 2.5 connections. my home network is setup for only 1gb connections So far this system is running find. but i have noisy hard drives. i bought. mounting this system to the Synology. allowed me to triple my storage on my Synology

I cannot begin to understand the good reviews after my experience. Upon receiving the product, I open it and the only directions there are are how to install the hard drives and the images for "my" product weren't up to date. At this point, there are no more directions.I plug it to the switch that my computer is on so there should be no firewall and turn it on and it "initialized" the drives. I watched a youtube video that told me to download the control center tool for that product, so I did. It could not find my drive.The IP address showed up on the device so I used that to navigate to it in chrome. A login page came up with default Chinese and demanded I log in. I have no password or username or directions around it.I tried the links provided and became a "member" which I'm regretting. One I did, the site spun me in circles to "update" my information which was all filled in with no opportunity for help or working with a representative.I was able to change the name and set a static IP manually using the buttons on the device and it was reflected on through the site displayed on Chrome. I could find nothing that would allow the management software to find the device. It was demanding I check the firewall when there was none but I checked my router to make sure it was passing and it was. It also suggested to be plugged directly into my computer which I did not do after some considerationI tried using a pin to "reset configuration" with the little hole just above the power supply which falls out just by looking at it. The screen said it was resetting but did nothing. All the settings that I did remained and it continued not to work or be detected by the controller software.I got the distinct impression that someone else had this device at some point and set up an account on it with settings preventing me from using it. If someone set it up and then it was repackaged with the expectation that the (do nothing) "reset" would actually do something, that would explain a lot.I took my drives out, packed it up and sent it back. If this was a refurbished product, I should know that when buying it and not be paying full price. If this was a new product... Wow... What a disaster. Not touching ASUSTOR again, ever. I'm having a hard time believing the good reviews are legitimate.

I received the delivery without issues, and since the hard drives haven’t arrived yet, I’m currently testing with two M.2 SSDs installed.However, the WOL (Wake on LAN) feature doesn’t seem to work.I registered the MAC address for Wake on LAN in ACC and enabled WOL in the power settings within ADM, but it still doesn’t function.For comparison, the WOL feature works perfectly fine on my QNAP NAS on the same network.If the WOL issue gets resolved, I’ll update this review. Currently, I’m using ADM version 5.0.0.RA82. If it turns out to be a hardware defect... I’d be really stressed. I hope to receive some support to resolve this issue.

El equipo es de muy buena calidad, realmente es práctico y ocupa poco espacio (adjunto fotos)Lo tengo en la esquina de mi escritorio y no hace ruido.En hardware la instalación es simple, compré junto a el un HDD para NAS de 8 TB y todo funciona de maravilla, seguí las instrucciones que trae el dispositivo y se configuró correctamente.En Sofware, a pesar de ser intuitivo tuve que mirar uno que otro tutorial en Youtube sobre todo para entender que significaba lo que estaba configurando, soy ignorante en tema de redes y a pesar de que directamente en la página de Asustor hay tutoriales, tuve que complementarme viendo videos.El principal uso que quiero para este equipo es que personas de mi equipo de trabajo puedan acceder y manejar la información como nube privada y desde allí tener todo lo que necesitamos para nuestro flujo de trabajo y allí hay algo importante a considerar.Cuando intenté realizar las alertas y conexiones tuve que hacer ajustes con un SMTP propio para poder enviar las alertas bajo mi dominio, ya que con Google directamente aunque te deja no las enviaba y daba error, entonces tuve que realizar configuraciones en mi dominio y conectar un SMTP externo para que las notificaciones se enviaran y así poder dar acceso a personas externas a mi red local.Velocidades, actualmente tengo un internet domestico lo cual no es eficiente para la conexión remota, la velocidad de transferencia de mi red es de 600Mb bajada 30Mb subida, lo cual no es eficiente, el equipo tiene 2 entradas de red que soportan 2.5Gbits solo que mi red no tiene esa capacidad y estoy en proceso de colocar fibra simétrica para poder realmente darle el uso que deseo (tener esto en cuenta), hasta ahora no he sacado todo el provecho de la manera en que lo busco porque me faltan cosas que son ajenas al equipo, ya que la velocidad de transferencia que tengo con mi red no supera los 3megas por segundo al pasar información, que para mi tipo de trabajo, es lento.El entender todo de como funciona el servidor es algo que requiere de bastante aprendizaje, no es solo un par de clicks y todo listo, porque debes saber lo que estás haciendo, buscaría mejorar la documentación ya que hay cosas que se deben saber, por lo que he estado aprendiendo, en tema de seguridad etc.En general mi review es positiva y actualizaré cuando ya tenga la posibilidad de explotar al máximo el potencial de este excelente equipo.Éxitos en tu compra!

I have moved away from Synology from my main NAS and am happy with the Asustor so far. I have upgraded it with the 10gb combo card which was a rip off for the price. I have 4 16Tb drives in raid 5 with 2 SSD 1TB cache drives. I use it for media, and backup. Use snapshots, backup and host PiHole on it for DNS. Not sure I would put cache drives in again due to my low hit rate for what I use it for. Other than that it has been flawless so far. It has been running for 6 months non stop. Using iPerf3, I am getting very close to 10gbe throughput.

We needed shared storage for photos and documents. Preferably with built in security. We also wanted access from smart phones, PC's etc. This unit answered all the requirements and with SSD's in a raid configuration it is super fast. Very happy with the purchase. Improved our overall efficiency. Well worth the investment.

Ich wollte einige Dateien auf meinem PC vor Verlust sichern und mit mehreren Geräten darauf zugreifen. Eine Nas war da das Richtige. Ich habe erst Synology, Q-Nap und WD ausprobiert. Leider ist bei allen die Einrichtung viel zu kompliziert, jedenfalls für Laien. Mir ist es jedenfalls auch nach jeweils mehreren Stunden nicht gelungen die gewünschten Funktionen zu installieren. Bei der Asustor Lockerstor 2 ist das anders. Einfache Installation ist der große Vorteil. Zumindest die Funktionen die ich benötige habe ich relativ problemlos installieren können. Auch wenn meiner Meinung nach nicht alles perfekt erklärt ist so ist die Asustor doch bei weitem die beste Nas für Anfänger und Nichtfachleute. Also klare Empfehlung trotz des meiner Meinung nach recht hohen Preises.

Håller på att utforska all möjligheter med denna NAS. Har precis kopplat in den i min bioanläggning (HDMI in i receiver) och kollar möjligheten att spela upp ISO filer mha konverteringsprogram (Looksgood). Skall bli spännande! Så denna NAS kan mycket! Åtkomst via Internet antingen via web eller via dedikerade appar. App stödet är stort och du kan köra många servertjänster på dennna NAS
