The Atomos Ninja V 5" 4K HDMI Recording Monitor is a 5" on-camera monitor/recorder that records and plays back DCI 4K, UHD 4K, and HD video from purpose-built mini-SSDs. It features a 10-bit FRC IPS screen with a brightness of 1000 cd/m², which makes it suitable for use in both exterior and interior conditions. The AtomHDR display technology allows you to accurately monitor your log gamma footage without having to view flat, washed-out looking images or use a LUT to compress the dynamic range and color space. The monitor supports popular log formats from Sony, Canon, Panasonic, ARRI, RED, and JVC cameras. The settings only affect viewing, with recorded video remaining unaltered. It comes with an Atomos Power Kit includes two NP-F750 5200mAh batteries, a charger, and a power adapter for the Shogun/Ninja Inferno and Flame.

The codec activation process is the worst I've seen.Otherwise it's a needed unit if you require prores raw and ssd recording

apparently this is well documented on the internet - I certainly had no problem finding other users with the same problem. That is, you set exposure on your camera (A7SIII) but the Ninja displays AND RECORDS a brighter, overexposed file - the exposures simply do not match!The best I can do at the moment is turn the Rec.709 LUT off and adjust exposure from 90% to 100% (as I am shooting in S-Log 3) but doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of a MONITOR!UNACCEPTBLE!

DO NOT GET THE ATOM-X DRIVE! this things are crazy expensive and just not worth it. Mine failed less in t less than a year! I shoot real estate... Not the hardest on your gear type of job... Still lost $1500 work, probably going to have a pissed client and have to spend another 6 hours reshooting.

A bit heavy but very useful unit. Very good construction quality, batteries included in the starter kit, easy to use especially with its latest firmware. It speeds up editing and video quality is outstanding (I use it with Fuji XT3)

I'd been shooting a video documentary series (look up From the Path Less Traveled if interested) with my Sony a7iii for a short time before I realized I needed an external recorder.Not only does this help break the 30 minute video limit of my camera, it also gives me eye tracking in 4k video.Not having to worry about SD card space and speed is also a huge relief.Wish I'd gotten it during a super quick sale I saw for 200 less (!), but hey — it's actually worth the retail price. So no regrets.Besides my camera, this is one of my favorite pieces of tech. I love this device and can highly recommend it.PS. I bought a storage bag (see pics) for it on Amazon. It holds everything — monitor, cables, batteries, charger. It's a tight fit, but I'm happy with it.

Had to study awhile to become proficient at using this device. The screen is awesome and works outdoors in full sun. Is very nice for focusing. I have not yet figured out how to add and use luts, but in theory it may be he helpful.I love the prores recording and what a speed difference when using in Premier Pro.

The ninja 5 came without plastic over wrap and was missing the plastic film on the screen. It had finger prints all over it. I am returning it.One of the batteries was defective out of box and would not charge.I’m not sure if this seller is actually Atomos. Do not buy from this seller.

Nice Monitor and Recorder for 4k 60p videos. Very well made and way to setup. The size and power of this recorder is just amazing. It fits very well on the video rigs. Thank you for this amazing recorder.
