I plant 1000s of bulbs every fall in HEAVY, nasty clay soil in Northern Michigan and end of shearing off at least one of these drill augers yearly. This one is definitely more heavy duty than the previous versions of planting augers I had been purchasing at big box stores. I don't know if it will stand up to the rigor of my fall planting yet and think it is likely I will shear this one off too but I do think it will last significantly longer than they usually do.The size is great, it cuts through my clay like butter. Go slow unless you want to hit a rock and rip your arm off until you get the hang of it. Buy a handle that screws on to your drill to make this even dreamier to use.

This drill bit is the absolute best tool I’ve ever used to plant annuals and perennials with! It easily cuts through small roots and the self-tapping point makes easy work of hard and rocky soil too!

What a piece of crap…11 holes…that’s all it’s capable of, 11 holes 6 inches deep. The metal used is way too soft for its intended purpose. The shank spun right off!

I really wasn't expecting much for the price, but this auger is solid. I have severe rheumatoid arthritis, but I love to garden. I'm not able to bend or squat very much if at all and I'm not able to operate my gas powered garden tiller anymore. I bought this in hopes that I could use it to till in compost, manure, etc while standing. It works just as I had hoped for my sandy loam soil. It would probably even handle clay if your drill is powerful enough. The length allows me to stand and till up the soil without much effort on my part. It is exactly what I needed for a smaller garden area. Tilling a large area might, however, be somewhat of a challenge and it might be a little hard on your drill motor for such a task. I would expect the motor to get hot with extend use, but shorter bursts works great. Shopping for this, I was looking for an auger long enough and tough enough and this is it. Others had extensions which I could see as a weak connection points for a breakage or just unwanted extra vibration. This is all one solid piece. It seems things these days aren't not what they are advertised to be quiet often, but... This one is a winner.

This was a great tool to help put in posts and for larger plants instead of digging holes. It was a time saver!
