It wasn’t long after that I purchased my first matcha powder, and began to experiment trying to recreate that delicious electric green cup I so much enjoyed.
It was then I realized just how much the flavor spectrum can vary from one grade of matcha to the next. But it’s not just the grade of matcha that matters— It’s how you prepare it. The full-bodied green taste of matcha is caused by what are called “polyphenols” in the tea leaf. If you add too much matcha powder these polyphenols are overpowering, and you create a bitter tea. If you add too little matcha powder, your cup may taste empty, and each sip will leave you yearning for more flavor.
Creating the perfect cup
Creating the perfect cup starts with creating the perfect tools. The traditional bamboo tea whisk (chasen) and chashaku have been the tool of choice for creating the perfect frothy matcha for over 1000 years —and I have found this truly is the best way to prepare a cup.
Our process is simple, to create the perfect whisk, you need to start with the best material. Our team hand inspects each bamboo rod for blemishes and integrity. Any piece of bamboo that doesn’t meet our standards is rejected. Only after selecting the best bamboo material does our team begin the production process by hollowing out the bamboo rods, and cutting them down to the perfect length for the tea whisks.
The next step is the most important part in the process. Our specialists hand curl each tine to create the perfect matcha brush. The soft brushing motion of the tines is what gives matcha the perfect consistency, and without this integral step in our process, the tea will not come out the same.

enjoying my matcha set! The bowl is a nice size, easy to clean. Whisk,rest, chasaku and tea spoon are good quality. I don't use the tea spoon too often but that's ok. great little starter set for a beginner like me

This is a “ok” starter bowl and whisk. Don’t expect the best here. If you’re looking for a premium quality set this isn’t it. However, for the starters this is a good choice is you just want to check out “what it’s all about”. Also if you’re on a budget then this would do the job if you just need a set to get the job done. All around ok quality.

I have used this set for well over a year and it is still sturdy. The cup is great quality and the bamboo utensils as well. The only you might have to replace after a while is the bamboo whisk. Other than that, this is the set you want for the price you want.

The whisk works really well, the bowl resembles a Japanese lacquerware but is not at all symmetrical , like it was mass produced (but is still functional and works for its purpose) it is gift-able and i do like it. Just the bowl portion is iffy-looking.

This kit has everything one needs to make matcha tea the traditional way, except the tea itself. The quality is good, and the set provides a relatively modest way to try the process. An experienced user would likely want finer quality in terms of the whisk and bowl, but that would be a decision best made after considerable experience.

This is a great starting set for anyone looking to get into matcha. It comes with everything you need, and I was very impressed by the quality of the pieces included. The bamboo whisk has lost its shape over the course of a few uses, but that is to be expected. If you aren't familiar with bamboo whisks, this might have been a surprise to you. I can't find a better deal anywhere else though, it's a great product.

Everything was good except the spoon. I opened the box and found a spoon with a black mark on the edge. Disappointed by it.
