This set took exactly 4 weeks to receive, but it was worth the wait. I love everything about this set. It comes in a very nice box worthy of gifting. Everything in the box is cushioned to prevent breakage. The two pieces of pottery are beautiful and nicely made (heavy). As I was unpackaging the items, I was looking for instructions as I have no idea how to make a great cup of Matcha Tea. The entire back of the box has step-by-step easy to follow instructions. I love Matcha tea and was excited to make my first cup. I have to admit, I was feeling as if I was filming The Karate Kid II tea ceremony scene. It turned out delicious and I can not wait to keep enjoying authentic Japanese Matcha.

Positives:1. This kit includes everything you need (except matcha powder) to make the drinks. It even includes a cute rag and what I'm guessing is a utensil holder, which I haven't gotten in similar sets.2. Everything feels high quality, for example the glazing on the bowl is even and smooth. The product came exactly as pictured.Negatives:1. None I can think of! This is a steal for the price :)

I’m trying to like Matcha Tea for all it’s reported health benefits. And, so many people like it’s taste. But, per many testimonials it needs the proper preparation technique. Hence, I ordered this Tea Ceremony set. It has a beautiful decorative bowl, scoop, sifter, and essential bamboo chasen (Matcha whisk) plus other accessories for a showy, “authentic” Japanese Tea Ceremony.I already have some expensive tea that previously I used a milk frother for a rather unsuccessful brew (didn’t think I was going to like Matcha). I watched the Amazon preparation video (because this novice needed to) and did exactly the same process. Result: a very good cup of tea. I may learn to like Matcha tea after all.P.S. This tea set is the second one Amazon sent me because the first one… shipped in a large envelope... had a broken bowl; the second set was more successfully sent in a box.

This is the best entry level matcha set I've ever seen. In fact, I only call it entry level because it is so comprehensive, including everything you would need for a matcha practice, up to and including a rest (chashaku-tate) for the scoop (chashaku), and an appropriately coloured (so as to be less likely to show matcha dribbles or stains), attractive towel. The small tea strainer is a good choice for sifting matcha, though you may want to get a dedicated matcha sifter (furui) eventually, as it can make not only sifting, but also measuring your matcha somewhat easier. The whisk (chasen) appears to be slightly above entry level, as does the scoop. The bowl (chawan) and whisk stand/shaper (chasen kusenaoshi) are well formed, without any rough spots, and the glazes, a lovely brown to light tan, match; with the interior of the bowl being brown – perfect for offsetting and showcasing the bright green of a true ceremonial quality matcha. The chawan is the newer style with a spout, which makes it easier to pour your matcha into a latté, but still being perfectly useable for the more traditional way of consuming matcha, directly from the bowl. While my usual way of preparing matcha, 3 grams to about 3 ounces of 160-175ºF water is slightly different than that described in the instructions, it whisked up easily and smoothly with the equipment in this kit. The instructions appear to assume that the user will be using the whisked matcha in a latté, as the majority of Americans who consume matcha these days seem to do. The ratios are the same (1 gram matcha to 1 ounce of water) initially, and it certainly appears to me that the new user would have no difficulties with then proceeding to adding more water to the smooth preparation which I normally drink straight up in sips.I have no reservations recommending this kit.Thank you for reading my review. I hope you found it helpful.

The first note is that this item took almost 30days to arrive. Normally, this would cost them a star, but maybe this ship issue was a one off. It is very well made and comes packaged in special cut out foam to securely hold the contents. The packaging is also nice enough that you can gift this item easily. This does take a little time and practice to master the spoon measuring and just how much matcha to make. The directions on the box are not very specific in regards to just how much to spoon out.

A very nice modern premium take on a traditional matcha tea set. This tea set comes in a beautiful green consumer orientated box, so it will make a great gift. The tea set box came in a think shipping plastic bag so part of the box got wrinkled from compression. However, everything inside was perfect as all the pieces are sunk into a firm form fitting foam. The set includes everything you need: i.e., the tea bowl, tea scooping spoon, mesh filter, bamboo whisk, ceramic scoop holder, and ceramic whisk dryer/holder. This has a modern twist because it is most like made in a mold. While mods result in the lost of hand throwing marks, mass production results in great prices. The glazing on the bowl and whisk dyer/holder is a beautiful dispersed chocolate brown on the outside of the bowl, with a solid brown inside. The bowel benefits from the inclusion of a pouring beak that will improve pouring from the bowel into other implements. At the same time if you want to drink directly from the matcha bowl, the size in terms of diameter and height is perfect for a two handed hold.

On first unboxing, this looks to be a pretty nice set. It comes in a nice colorful box that is suitable for gift-giving. It comes with everything you need, including a strainer, bamboo measuring spoon, bamboo whisk, and ceramic mixing bowl. However, upon inspection, I found that my bowl had shattered. It’s not the fault of the seller, as this could’ve happened anywhere between here and China. But was disappointing nonetheless. Although it broke, the rest of the components are of high-quality. And the glaze on the ceramic is really nice looking. It may be that the ceramic is just too thin and brittle. If it wasn’t broken, this would be a very nice set to give us a gift to someone or for everyday use.
