I do not know why the wires are 18ga. This seems a bit on the thin side but it does not appear that this has much of a draw. Either way, this really should be mounted from above the ceiling. I face mounted mine and got away with it, but there was some issues with the vent louver getting pinched and blocked in the hose. But if there is a will, there is a way.This is not the most powerful vent, or the most quiet, but it easily handles a small bath and at a very reasonable volume. I can clearly hear the wife talking in the other room past the ambient noise. Not only that, this thing is crazy bright. I would say that the light almost overpowers the room and is painful to look at. The light throws a sharp blue hue evenly across the whole room and still manages to light the ceiling as well. This impressed me the most out of the whole thing.If you have access to the space above the room you are installing this in or it is a new construction, this fixture is a solid option. Trying to use it as a retrofit and surface mount worked, but took way too much effort.

This is super fancy and elegant. In fact, it makes my son's bathroom look a little dingy and neglected.The installation is simple, our problem was that we have really high ceillings, around nine feet in the bathroom so we needed to borrow a really big ladder from upstairs. As always, turn off the electricity before doing anything with a light. Like at the breaker, not just the wall switch.Since we'd measured, we knew this would fit. But after all of this was done it wouldn't turn on. But I don't think it is this fan, I think we need an electrician to figure out what is wrong with the electric in that side of our home. So my advice is to get an electrician, they have all the skills and it isn't a great idea to save time or money on a critical thing like this.

The teeny tiny instructions are useless. The wiring in the instructions are NOT for the USA. We don’t use blue or yellow wires. I have no idea what the heck a “keel” is or what the so called “buckles” are supposed to attach to. Nothing on the tiny 4” instructions page makes any sense as to how to attach this fan either under or above the ceiling. And the so called “video” another user claimed was super helpfull has nothing to do with THIS fan.DO NOT BUY THIS GARBAGE

This is a very nice looking bath fan with very high CFM claim. I cannot completely verify the CFM rating, but the air does run strong. Without any restriction to air flow, the fan runs quiet, measured at about 1 sone at 2 feet away from the fan. The light is bright and easily to take it down with the grill. The grill has air passage areas larger than 4 inch duct. The slots on the surface of the grill, so I do see a need to clean the grill more often than the grills with slots on the sides.

I have not installed this bathroom combination fan/light but it should be a breeze. The gold cover plate is very attractive. I ordered this because my bathroom fan has no light and it is fairly dim in my shower, I’m hoping this fan/light will resolve that problem for me. Nice product, good quality you can’t go wrong if you need an extra bathroom light.

I got this to add light to my bathroom when the fan was on. The shower and tub are separated by a wall with the lights across from the tub side so it is fairly dim in the shower. This was a simple solution to help add light to that side of the bathroom. It replaced the fan I had quite readily and went up fairly quickly.Definitely recommend.
