I think this company definitely tried their best to make a product that was as close to the OEM material as possible. It's a pretty good texture match. So far I haven't had any issues with the unit I received. Both batteries work well and together they easily let the camera work all day. As for the build quality, it's not too bad. From other reviews I could tell that the mounting screw should not be tightened too much as it can cause separation on the grip. It can be tightened snug with risk but can easily be over tightened if not careful. Originally, I had only intended on using this sometimes but it is just so much more comfortable to hold with it on and the additional button is handy. It also makes it look like a much more expensive camera, although a trained eye can easily tell the difference. Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase and for 50 bucks it was quite worth it.

I was very hesitant to purchase this as I had read other reviews about the batteries not being accepted by the camera. It turns out that I got the same message when I put everything together. I have a D3200, and I received the error once with the two supplied batteries. I turned off the camera, took the battery out of one of the slots and replaced with my Nikon battery. Tried it again, and everything worked great. Turned it off again, swapped out the batteries, and tried it only to get the error message. Well, I turned off the camera, popped out both batteries, put one in while the grip was connected and the small green light on the camera (same small green light that flashes for the SDHC card and battery) flashed. I pushed in the other battery and closed the battery door. Started up the camera and had no error messages. Unfortunately, every time you take the grip off the camera, you have to repeat this process.Other than that, it fits nicely and looks similar in finish to the Nikon. It does accept the cameras battery door into the stalk of the grip quite nicely. It does include the shutter release cable, which oddly plugs into the GPS port. The batteries did have a charge on them so they were ready to go out of the box. The best thing I like about this is that my pinky finger doesn't have to support the weight of the camera and lens anymore. Handling is more stable and less stressful. The cleaning cloth is an added bonus, but serves no other useful purpose for this review.I have a Tamron SP 70-300mm Tamron VC Di USD on the D3200, with the grip attached, and it's on my tripod and nothing creaks, bends or breaks thus far. I will give it time. It is a simple plastic grip, and at this price point I don't anticipate it will survive under the usage I might put it through, but again, at this price point, it is easily replaceable, and for less than the cost of a nicer grip, I will get two more batteries to go with it. You can't beat that.Shipping was very fast! The product is as described and works as it should. The only reason I left a star off is for the slight rattling noise the battery door makes on the grip, it is rather cheaply built, and the battery issue, which was probably my fault, as they do work now. I totally recommend this someone who like shooting, wants to have a more professional look to their camera, and most importantly, wants to extend the time which they have to shoot, and do not want to have to waste time changing out batteries. This is a must, and for a fraction of the price!

I had my d3100 for about a year learning how to use a DSLR before I started butting against the end-of-a-battery level of photo volume. When that happened I bought this battery grip kit and it worked exactly how I wanted. I not only immediately got double the life-span of work time, but then I also had a back-up battery (the OEM camera battery) for worst-case-scenarios.Now, to note - you have to *remove* the camera's battery door and attach the grip to the tri-pod connector. But it has a twist tightener and also has it's own tri-pod connection on the bottom. As for my d3100 - the door came off easily (after looking in the instructions) and I keep it in my bag in case I ever want to remove the grip. Additionally, you also have to plug in the grip's vertical trigger connector into the side of your camera - which leaves the other connectors exposed and, if you don't want to remove it, a hanging rubber door on your camera. The grip doesn't give you any controls other than the trigger on the bottom - all you get is the ability to focus (by half-press) and to take the picture(s). That being said, the trigger feels good, is solid, and has held up well to a few months of professional-level-abuse.It also comes with a screen-protector for the camera's display...which is umm, ok, thanks? Guess if you haven't already got a screen protector by the time you pick one of these up - it's a nifty add-on.You can use the grip with only one battery in worst-case-scenario times. I found myself at a paid gig with the last of my camera life slowly getting to the end (Videos and about 3k of images) - I was able to put my backup battery (the camera's original battery) in the grip by itself and use that. I found a power outlet and started charging one of the nearly-dead batteries, once that was charged - replaced that into the camera and started charging the other... made it through without a power loss and still had some juice in the OEM battery. If you're serious about photography, video or just don't want to have to deal with charging batteries often, this is for you.Pros: Double Battery Life, comes with Cut-to-Size screen protector, trigger for Vertical photography. You'll look like a pro photog.Cons: Wire and Plug to enable the vertical trigger - using it leaves other connectors exposed and a rubber cover hanging from your camera. Real pro photogs will know you're fronting... but will probably smile and remember when they did that same thing. Unless they're douches.

When I ordered this there were no reviews and I was definitely concerned as I rely on the product reviews... a LOT..but figured I would pay almost as much for a couple of batteries so whats to lose? well.. It came today and I haven't wanted to put the D3200 down since I installed it.. The batteries had a charge and it mounted flawlessly..Once it gave a popup saying it didn't recognize the batteries and I just opened it and popped the batteries up then pushed them back into place and have had no more popups.. I have big hands and this improves the holdability (is that a word?) anyhow it helps... it didn't add a lot of weight and looks good.. I Look forward to a few good days so I can go burn out a buncha batteries in Central park.. I am happy with this purchase and I don't think anyone will be disappointed if they buy this battery grip... Enjoy.
