This was not what I was looking for. Not very sharp so it pulls too much. Hard to use.

This is a well-made tool and very durable, but I have to admit I could not figure out how to use it at first. I couldn't figure out which way to hold it and had to refer to this listing so I could see a picture. One of the problems I was having was I was trying to use it with my left hand. I think they should include directions. To me it's just not intuitive. I am right handed, but I'll often use my left.It works on my Turkish Angora, but I can't say that he really likes it. Of course he doesn't like much of anything except being a lap cat. He doesn't like to be messed with and this definitely feels like being messed with to him. We have accidentally nicked him being as careful as we could with scissors in getting out large mats.It is a lot safer than having to get scissors to cut mats off of him.It is very well made and I would expect it to go and rust long before it would fall apart or bend. The handle is well attached and very comfortable.

For a dog that is not extremely matted these are a good option. In fact once you get it through the dog's fur the coat is actually silky. The issue is if your dog is extremely matted this is not going to get it done. You will have to cut out the bad ones.Overall the dog did not dislike the experience but understand that these do have limitations.

I got this to use on my pomerian dog's tri layer coat. This is does not get through his coat at all. not even the first layer. I was really disappointed. the sides to this comb are pretty sharp so handle it with care you could hurt yourself with this. but the main sticking point for me is it did not work on my dog at all.

This dematting comb works great for my little pooch. She is a Maltese x Shih Tzu mix with a medium-length coat. Sometimes her hair is matted due to us not combing her frequently enough. This comb works through her hair smoothly and cuts the mats. That being said, the comb isn't designed to handle severely matted hair, which often requires scissors to remove. The comb is sturdy and well made. It is comfortable to hold due to its rubberized handle. It has a metal thumb rest that really helps control and exert the needed force to cut through matted hair. The comb teeth are metal and have a sort of serrated blade edge on one side that is designed to cut through mats. The other side is blunt and smooth designed to comb along the skin. The comb works well on light to medium mats.I wish the comb would have come with some sort of sheath for the sharp teeth though. It is basically a set of sharp edges and needs to be covered in storage. All in all, this is a great dematting comb. It works great. Functional and easy to use as well. Highly recommended in your grooming arsenal.

Bissel’s Dematting Comb ‘can be converted for left-handed use.’ Right. No directions for conversion are given anywhere. It took me a while to work this one out. In order to change it, I had to remove the nut on the end of the comb and then remove each of the teeth, then replace them on the spine facing the correct direction for left-handed use. This was far too much trouble, but the least Bissell could have done was to provide directions.

We own and breed Goldendoodles and one thing that is simply unavoidable are matts. They are no fun for either human nor pet but they have to be dealt with or they only get worse.Over the years of owning many long haired, non-shedding dogs we have learned certain tricks and techniques that help keep matts manageable but when we get them this is my go to tool. I have tried them all but this is the most effective and easiest to work with. The handle is ergonomically shaped which is helpful as part of the key in working matts out is NOT RUSHING. In order to get matts out it requires working the hair a little at a time - and the 9 tones of this work perfect for this purpose. There is a metal spoon where you place the pad of your thumb which allows the perfect leverage as you use your wrist to pull pieces of hair free from the matt. While other brands make the tines sharp similar to scissor edges I prefer these where they have a scallop design that does not cut the hair. The point of using this tool is to work the matt free and not cut it out. If the tines have an edge I’ve found that I unintentionally cut the hair and my thumb as I work. This is a great tool for a process that no one enjoys but has to be done. It is by far the most comfortable one I have worked with and I will be recommending it to our future puppy forever families.
