Claimed you could use it for bears and you could .... but by the time you pumped/primed it, it could get dangerous. But maybe our bears move faster :-)

Needed this to get rid of turkey bustards in our trees. I use it everyday. Seems to be working

So far, we have used this to wake the kids when they won't get up for school, scaring fellow streamers (loud noise unexpectedly), and warning others at the lake when we needed some assistance. It is a little tricky to make work, but it will do the job. I thought it was going to be a horn that you pressurized the can by pumping it and then pressing a button to blast the horn. However, it is not like that. You have to pump the handle fast and in a certain way to get it to make the "HONK!" noise. It took me several tries to get it to work. My husband loves it to scare his fellow streamers when they are deep into a scary game or just at an unexpected time. We have used it to wake the kids when they refused to get up for school. We also used it once when our young son wanted to see if the paddles for the canoe would float while I was getting his fishing rod set up to catch some fish. Thankfully, it was loud and the sound carried well on the lake and my brother was able to hope in his kayak, rescue the paddles and bring them to us (lesson learned...tie the paddles to the boat next time! LOL).

This hand-pump air horn is a great alternative to a standard compressed gas boat horn. To be honest, my first purchase was an all-plastic pump horn. It was loud and it was light, but it didn’t feel very durable. As soon as I saw this aluminum version advertised, I ordered it. Yes, it’s heavier that the all-plastic version, but it will last and last. I have no fear of accidentally breaking the plunger and destroying the horn.

I wasn't expecting much from this, since it is a manual pump on a horn. I was pleasantly surprised when it was super loud. I just bought a used center console boat that the horn and wiring were ripped out of by the previous owner. I want a sound device to meet coast guard regulations. This fit the bill. I can keep it in the storage under the center console until needed, and I don't have to worry about a dead battery not powering it. I think I will get another for my little jon boat for river fishing.I did end up having to add just a little oil to the shaft of the pump, since it was squeaking when I first got it. But just a drop or two did the trick.

Being the organizer and leader of a large social bicycle club here in Fort Lauderdale with over 1600 members and growing daily, the safety, health and well-being of our riders is always priority one. The same goes for our mounts as well. It is discussed before every slow roll. And one thing all my members know about me is that I love customization and personalization. And if it serves both safety and customization then roll on I say! My local bike shop could tell you how much they make from our patronage. And not just for technical stuff but for lots of other fun stuff as well, gadgets, toys and accessories are always welcome. I like to gift away some small safety item to our new members at the beginning of each slow roll, most often it will be a safety whistle to wear while riding. Sometimes the gifting goes to another level. It might be a lighting kit, a set of pedals or grips, locking kits, occasionally even a pair of gloves or a helmet. I encourage my members to keep their mounts very well maintained in order to not get left behind (in reality we would never let anyone get left behind). Anything that keeps you out of danger and improves the experience of riding is for us. Now we are all about the comfort and luxury during our slow rolls. But if an emergency were to occur where I had to get everyone's attention this air horn could do the trick. It is certainly loud enough. But there are some issues. There is no can of air in use here. This horn works by pumping the plunger. One blast for each pump. The plunger itself is a bit wonky-so use with a bit of care. There is a lot of plastic. It is a little bulky when it comes to storage or portage during use. Fun to have but I consider this a toy. And as always remember:Ride Safe, Ride Strong, Ride Happy!!
