I got this in combination with the company's child sling for my 9 year old to wear. He broke his upper humerus, but the only available slings at the hospital and orthopedist was an adult small that wasn't very comfortable. It does slide quite a bit more than the single unit that the hospital sent home, so it's not great for sleeping, but this is much softer and flexible, so he wears this sling and strap during the school day. We're going on 9 weeks in the sling, and the Velcro still works perfectly, so I'm happy with the purchase and would recommend the product.

I'd give the adult size two stars and the child size 4 stars, but the same review keeps populating for both sizes, so I decided on three stars. The adult size strap is way too big for me. I am at least 40 pounds over the 90 pounds limit on the description, but the youth strap is large enough for me even when I am wearing my winter coat. I have difficulty putting on either one single-handed, but it does the job once it is in place. I'm frustrated by the number of reviewers who put a review for the sling here. This review is just for the strap; I have reviewed the child and adult slings separately.

I would of loved to give this sling 5 stars but the Velcro fastening lets it down badly. The sling itself is absolutely lovely, the cotton stretch Lycra is so soft and comfortable just unfortunately the Velcro fastening is very uncomfortable, the Velcro is hard razor sharp and digs into and rubs on your neck. This really needs some kind of neck pad to go around the Velcro to stop this from happening! I can't live in this sling for the next 6-8 week so I've had to spend extra money on buying another sling :(. So disappointed.

I broke my left humerus 2 weeks ago - upper left arm. After two weeks in a splint I gradated to a brace but the sling I was given in ER was really chafing and slipping around.I bought the Joslin Swathe(R) Adult Arm Immobilzer Strap because I was having moments when I felt my lower arm swinging out a little from my body at the break - the immobilizer is perfect. Keeping the arm immobilized and stable so the bone can heal is my main preoccupation for the next two months so it was well worth the investment.I also bought the matching Ultimate Arm Sling (also sold at Amazon) and it is soft and a little clingy so it stays in place. The strap adjusts from the front and is padded for comfort, very convenient. It feels much more secure, just what I need for the next 6-8 weeks, as the two bone sections grow back together.I didn't see sizing on the description of the sling but it is on the pack - Avg Adult - 90 to 250 lb, 5 - 6 f. tall. There is a child's size (50-90 lb,3.5 - 5 ft) and two larger sizes. On the swathe wrap, the adult size is 90 - 225 lb., 50 " wrap.

First, to all of the naysayers complaining about it not being a full sling: please read the whole product description. Don't give a bad review simply because you focused on the picture instead of the text the makes up the description!Anyway, my Mother had to undergo a shoulder replacement procedure back in December. In January, somehow the internal stitches tore, and they had to to a repair. The Doc warned that she was to keep the arm as immobile as possible so that no further tears occured. My Mother, while I love her dearly, is not always the best of most reliant when it comes to following Doctor's orders. She was scared to death after the second surgery, though, because she was told that if a tear occured following this surgery, they would have to do a reverse-shoulder operation. So, I went on a search to help with my Mother's recovery. I found this product, and it has worked WONDERS for her! She says that it is not only comfortable, but also quite effective. It may just simply be an exercise in psychology, but having that immobilizer strap at the very least serves as a reminder to NOT MOVE HER ARM! LOL!Whatever the case, Mom is using it on a constant basis (a small miracle in itself!), and it is working as intended. Remember people, this is NOT a complete sling! It's just the strap! When her ortho Doc saw the whole thing (I bought the "matching" sling as well), he was very impressed with the quality, and the effectiveness of it.For those people whom are convelescing, and to do so need to keep an arm or shoulder in place, this product is great. It has won over my Mom's VERY jaded view of all things mecial-related (White-coat syndrome), which speaks volumes about the product!

I rarely leave feedback for the products but it is so good I had to do it. My daughter is 7 years old and few days ago she had an upper arm bone fracture falling on the playground. Doctor did not put us in cast due to bones being well aligned and instead we have to wear a sling for 6-8 weeks. All the slings that we tried, the one that we got in emergency room or at specialized bone and joints clinic were not immobilizing her arm and further more her arm kept slipping out of it all the time. Additionally the smallest size they had was still a little too big for her. Also the length of velcroe on a strap on all these were not long enough to shorten the strap to raise her arm higher. I decided to do a research to get a better solution for a small fractured arm and oh my! I ordered both sling and immobilizer and as soon as I opened the package I knew that it is a perfect one! It is extremely soft and arm/elbow rest perfectly inside. There is also a special place for thumb that prevents arm to move out of it and the fabric is so cushy that my daugther does not even notice she has smth on her arm. Immobilizer fixes the arm/elbow perfectly in its place and the size is just perfect, as if it is made for her. Once she goes to school I am not going to be worried that she can either have troubles in keeping sling on her arm or moving it away from her body accidentally. I am very happy with purchase and would recommend it to any parent who is looking for the best sling/immobilizer for their children.
