I recently updated to Mac OS Ventura and it knocked out my Time Capsule. (Thank you Apple!) I also saw that WD MyCloud no longer works with Ventura. I went with Buffalo LinkStation. The included instructions and software disc were worthless. But...installation was easy after downloading the NAS Navigator 2 app (free) from the Apple app store.

I like to think I'm OK on PCs etc, using and setting up network related products in my job for the last 15-years but this is laboriously slow, software is clunky and as others have said its dated. Every change seems to take an age. File transfer is around the 10Mb mark. The drive presents three different interfaces depending on whether you use software, network shortcut or browser - that just seems odd to me. I install a lot of CCTV and regardless of your access route, the GUI is all the same. I haven't really "tested it yet", seems to play music and video back OK but we'll see. The final thing is it is relatively quiet but I don't think there is any internal vibration damping as I've had to put felt pads under it to stop the constant "drone" on my desk from the drive. Certainly wish I'd gone for the WD at just a few quid more now though.

Don't buy this if you are not computer literate. This is not a consumer grade product no matter what they say. You need to have an understanding of networking terminology and an understanding of your existing network.It IS easy to set up, if you know what you're doing. "Computer literate" is a broad term, your "average home user" may struggle with setting up the device which is where I think the negative reviews are coming from but it's actually pretty decent and a good price.

I purchased this to consolidate my families media files (iTunes, movies, photos, documents etc). The setup process was fairly straightforward, although the interface is really dated and could use a refresh. Transferring the files over to the server took days, with speeds limited to 10 mb/s, even over a wired connection. However, since transfer I have had no issues with accessing files, and even hosting my iTunes library on there has worked great. Creating partitions is fairly easy too, although I can see no way to designate sizes to a partition.
