Dislike the front plate, cause erratic bass sounds

My wife bought the Tocador for me as a gift. The sound is amazing. The bass is great and the snar is just right. The craftsmanship is beautiful. Throughly enjoying it!!

This cajon does not have the clear snare sound of others. But it makes up with a very nice base. To make it sound nice, requires a little more skill. Beautifully constructed! It is a piece of art.

To start, I purchased 3 different cajons in order to decide. I wanted excellent bass and snare, but was impressed with the A Tempo cajons for their beauty in the woodwork as well as the included padded carry bag. I returned all 3 cajons including the A Tempo Percussion El Artesano Cajon because there was just no snare. My favorite of those 3 was the Meinl jumbo bass, but it was just a little big and looked cheap compared to the A Tempo. When I emailed A Tempo about returning the El Artesano I got an immediate reply with the recommendation to try this cajon. The bass was still awesome but much better snare. The more I have played it the more I like it. Not sure but it seems like the snare has loosened up and is a little more responsive, and the bass is a beautiful thud or slap depending on how I play it. The wood is as pretty as you could imagine and it has a nice matte finish. The travel bag is a huge plus too and it is nice and padded.
