All da' reviewz

I do a lot of catering jobs, so I have about a million little plating molds and similar tools like this. But it never hurts to have extras. I've used these a couple times since I got them, and they're great. They're really solidly made, with a bit of weight to them, so they feel good quality. They're perfectly sized for an appetizer or dessert. Because they're finished so nicely, without any seam, they're both very easy to use since the pusher doesn't get caught on anything, and they're also very easy to clean and keep food-safe. They just work very nicely. I saw one reviewer talking about how this set doesn't need all 4 pushers, but one reason I disagree with that is that sometimes I actually bake things in molds like this, and putting the pusher on top keeps the top from drying out. It acts like a lid, which is important if you're cooking something where drying out would be a problem, like delicate egg dishes or shredded meats or anything with a cream sauce that might split or curdle. Yes, you can achieve the same thing with a piece of foil, but cutting foil to size takes time, and if you're prepping 100+ servings of something, it is FAR more efficient to just have a lid/cover that already fits by design. Also, each sheet of foil costs money, and the pushers, once you have bought them, don't, so it's cheaper as well. In any event, I probably have 60 or more 3-inch round molds, almost all with pushers, and I use them fairly regularly for more upscale catering events. If you're a home cook looking to level up your dinners with something fancy and creative, get a set of these and let your imagination go. And remember, these aren't just for desserts. The last dish I made with these was a layered appetizer of polenta, refried beans, chicken tinga, cheese, sliced avocado, thinly sliced orange, and pickled red onion, stacked up and neatly plated in a perfect 3-inch circle. I drizzled red, white and green sauces over the top and served it for Cinco de Mayo, and it was a huge hit with my guests. I've done breakfast stacks in these too, with pancakes, eggs, sausage, cheese, peppers, etc. You can literally make anything look really fancy if you get good at using these molds, and this set in particular is very well made. So grab a set and start getting fancy!

These molds are nice and I will be using them in cooking and baking frequently. I thought the 4 pushers was unnecessary though- one would have been sufficient.
