I got this starter for my JD riding mower. The old started wouldn't turn the motor over. Even with a fully charged battery. The original starter was over 15 years old and only recently started having issues turning the motor over. It would spin but seemed weak. Not strong enough to spin the flywheel through the compression portion.I swapped in this new 3rd party starter and it worked great the first hand full of times. Would spin the motor right up. About the 5th or 6th time I went to start the mower the starter would "jam" or stop on the compression portion of the cycle. I would need to manually spin the flywheel in reverse as far back as it would go and then try starting again. This would give the starter time to build momentum through the compression and start the mower. This is a pain because I have to open the hood and lean over each time to start the mower.TLDR: Works to start the mower for less than OEM but you get what you pay for.

A waste of hard-earned money!! It looks exactly like the starter motor we needed to replace. But looks can be deceiving. Sure was the case with this starter motor.When a deal seems too good to be true - believe it!This starter motor is much less expensive than OEM. Now we know why. It does not have enough oomph to do the job. A waste of money and a waste of time.This amazin' Amazon find, did not amaze

Originally I purchased the thing that rotates was a black plastic item. It messed up really quick! * Make sure it isn’t that!!I contacted the seller they responded very quickly and shipped the one identical to the picture quickly! Great customer service!!!
