Installed this unit in a 2018 Cub Cadet XT1, which called for part number 2009811-S. Original nuts are too small. Installed with M5 lock nuts and flat washers. Installation was straight forward and mower started immediately. If the unit came with correct nuts, and if it still works correctly by the end of the season, I'd give it 5 stars.

I was concerned the gear keeper might be a locknut that could come loose, but that is not the case on mine. It has a C clip on the end of the helix shaft to keep the gear on the shaft. The Seller was very good to get back to me with answers to questions. He sent pics showing starter with the black dust cover removed, and it had a lock nut on it, where mine has a C -clip. I guess they sell with both types of retainers. Seller stated that his engineer said they put thread-lock glue on the starters using a lock nut.It is a 9 tooth gear and spins the motor a little faster than the 10 tooth original. It is also the shorter motor body indicating newer design model.Installed easily and worked great the first couple of starts. We’ll see how it lasts in time.

Not sure if this is a quality issue or what but it’s 3 months old and I’ve been fighting to try and start my mower thinking why would it be the starter and here it is- once I tested for power to the starter I decided to remove and test again- It says there is a 1 year hassle free warranty but I can’t find anyone to contact- beware

Les écrous ne sont pas fournis et ne sont pas les mêmes que sur mon vieux demarreur. J'ai donc dû interchangé les deux "side bolts" avec ceux de mon vieux demarreur. Au moins, il fonctionne parfaitement.

Make sure your key is turned completely off or if you want to be super secure, remove the ground cable on your mower battery. Install lower red coated cable (12v hot) to lowest stud on bottom of starter. Align plastic tab around 2 o’clock position, so that 2 threaded screws penetrate top 2 holes, tighten 2 ten mm serrated nuts onto freshly installed starter and tighten enough to secure but don’t go nuts.I used a quarter inch drive and one hand and stopped before I ran out of hand power. Don’t wrench them off. Reinstall battery ground if you removed it to monkey with starter.Enjoy saving cash and the satisfaction of doing a great job yourself! You can do it.

The starter on my Cub Cadet LT1042 2006.5 gave up and this replacement worked perfectly. High quality at a cheaper price. I would recommend 100%.
