We drove about 15hrs and couldn’t believe it held on that long even in the rain. The only issue was having to stop maybe 2 times to tighten the straps before driving again. If it’s windy you’re heard it moving back and forth if not tight enough but strong plus waterproof. Very easy to install when you travel even best if going camping or vacationing to have space inside your car.

Okay, so let me first start by saying that I don’t leave tons of reviews, but for this product and what it weathered…I absolutely had to.We purchased this ahead of a cross country road trip so that we could free up space in my Outback for our dogs…and I have to tell you, I was worried. Something about putting expensive belongings atop my roof…in a zippered bag from Amazon…and every conceivable “what if,” raced through my mind while we were packing it. And then…this happened. Not 3 hours into our road trip, we got caught in a torrential downpour…with 85+ MPH winds and HAIL. Sitting on the side of the, waiting for the storm to slow down, my heart raced in panic mode and I was just waiting for all of our stuff to be soaked or worse…fly off the roof with the wind gusts. When the storm finally slowed enough that we could get out and check our belongings, I was honestly shocked. Not only had this travel carrier not budged an inch…but everything inside of it was bone dry. I honestly couldn’t believe it.I cannot make a better recommendation for a product. It’s incredibly durable and well-made and to have survived a near 24 hour drive across the country, through every conceivable type of weather…I’ll be a customer for life.So many products these days just don’t live up to their hype…but this one did and then some. And for that, I was so incredibly grateful. It’s WELL worth the price.A couple notes that we took away from installing it the first time…be sure it’s centered on your roof for proper weight distribution and ensure that the positioning gives you enough length for each strap to be secured. We followed the instructions of keeping it 8 inches from the windshield, and didn’t realize it said “atleast…” lol. So we loaded the whole thing only to discover that it was too far forward on the roof and the rear straps wouldn’t reach. So we had to unpack it all and move it backwards another 6 inches or so. Just make sure that it’s positioned properly for your roof rails BEFORE you load it and you’ll be golden. :)

We were completely blown away with how well this held up. We moved our son over 1300 miles away to college and we didn’t know how we would make all of his items fit in his Honda Accord. He didn’t have a roof rack so we thought we would give this item a shot. WOW! We went through several rain storms, heat, and cold along the way. We easily went over 80 mph at times during the trip. I would say that maybe the topper shifted at most 2 inches the whole time. We never had to adjust the straps or reconfigure the topper. Everything stayed safe and dry. Absolutely ZERO issues. This was easily one of the best purchases I have made. This was so much cheaper than renting a Uhaul or towing a trailer. I absolutely recommend this purchase for anyone looking for more space during a trip.

This thing survived continuous highway speed through multiple winter storms with high wind, rain, and snow from west coast US to east coast then back. The only draw back is it's so stiff that you'd need some arm strength to maneuver it while standing on your car in cold temperature. Did not use the included hooks since I was able to mount it to a roof basket. If your basket is shorter than your bag, I recommend packing from the back to the front and "fold" the excess space at the front the bag into itself, making a flap and then strapping that down to whatever you're mounting the bag to on your vehicle. This will reduce extra creases that would increase wind noises. In a bind, this is a very affordable method on a last minute road trip.

We took ours on road trip for 1000 miles on top of my truck that does not have a roof rack. It worked, stayed dry, and generally did what it is designed to do. Negatives were that the “nose” lifted up when driving at/over 65mph. No big deal other than it not being as streamlined and aerodynamic as stated in description. Also getting items placed in the bag while on top of my Ram pickup was a bit of a challenge. Use on top of a car will be much easier. Loading is absolutely key in getting the bag to ride aerodynamically. Heavy items up front, taller softer items to the back work best. All in all very good for the money.

Packed the carrier for a 15 hour drive from Missouri to New York. The carrier and straps were easy to get on the car and load. There was minimal noise from the carrier while driving. There was a ton of rain the last three hours of the drive. After arriving, unloading, then taking the carrier off, we found the holes and one of the arms for the straps began disconnected from the main section. Everything was installed and loaded as directed. Luckily we only had minimal rain seep in the holes so no major damage to bags and clothes. Cannot believe this had this much damage from the first use. We still have to get home too. Guess we will have to duct tape and pray for no rain on the way home.
