This is the perfect cat collar. My cat has been attacking his tail and has a huge cut on the tip of his tail. The vet recommended 2 weeks in a collar to get the tail healed and then a recheck.She sent him home in a hard plastic collar, which he (and I) hated. I tried the two collars I already had: a donut (legit looks like a donut) and a soft fabric Elizabeth-ish collar... Both are great, but if he got too hyper (spinning in cycles), he could get to his tail.Come along this collar. It is perfect for the tail chaser. He can still see out the sides, it is breathable, it dries quickly, and it isn't the hard plastic that impedes sleep, etc.

This e-collar/cone of shame is 1000 times better than the veterinarian issued rigid cone. My cat has recently developed hyperesthesia where he attacks the end of his tail. His condition had gotten so bad that he had torn the hair off the end of his tail and made it bleed extensively. Although he is on prescription medicine, he still has intermittent episodes, so I keep him in a cone to prevent him from being able to reach his tail. We had lived with the rigid cone for three weeks before I found this one on Amazon. The vet issued rigid cone made it very difficult for my cat to eat and obstructed his peripheral vision. He was constantly crashing into things.This cone is so much nicer because the mesh is somewhat transparent, restoring his peripheral vision. It’s padded around the lower half of the cone, making it much more comfortable for him to sleep. I also really like that I can fold back the cone at feeding time. My cat doesn’t seem to mind this cone at all. I wish I would’ve had it all along.

I ordered the smallest size that I could for or female cat, who is fluffy but has a small head. Her head was lost in the cone, she was having a fit because she couldn't see past the pink cloth part. The cone fit adjustablity wise, but the soft cloth was too big and made her panic too much. Think that there should be an extra small size made for petite smaller head cats.

I'm torn about this, because of the three different collars I bought, this one worked AND was the least invasive on my cat's ability to eat, drink, move. It looked more comfortable than the others and he wasn't able to get out of it.That said, if you use auto water bowl with a spout, then expect the cat's neck to get drenched. When using his regular water bowl, my cat had issues. Ate and drank fine. But we use a fountain water bowl for the dogs that he likes to use and it has a spout. He'd shove his entire head in the water stream and it would pour down the cone and soak his neck. Not ideal, had to keep changing it out so both him and the cone could dry properly.Otherwise, though, this kept him from licking himself just as expected.I didn't knock off a star for this, because these cones are typically only needed short term, but even in just the recommended 14 day recovery time from the vet, he started to wear a bit on the sides. There were holes starting to form and tears. Not enough to pose an issue, but if your pet needs it for any longer than four weeks or is aggressive with the cone (our cat didn't fit or mind the cone once on so he didn't claw or pull at it) then might not hold up.
