I've used a similar but larger ladder kit on my Dinghy in the Florida Keys. It worked well but was always a bit large for storage. This one is about half the size and weight of my previous ladder, and it matches my Dinghy! It connects to the wood floor nicely, and the straps go over the bow so we can re-enter the boat after snorkeling without fear of tipping it.

I got this for use on my fishing kayak, just in case I capsize. The ladder has three rungs, which is about right for a vessel of that size. The top can be clamped together to one anchor point, or each end could connect to two points to spread it out a little bit more. The straps are supple and feel pretty sturdy. The foot loops are also made of the same strap material, but they are covered with a nylon / rubber sleeve to give them durability. I sincerely hope that I don't have to use this, but it gives me piece of mind that I will have it.

I was looking for something for my kayak in case I fell out again, while crabbing. Previously while crabbing, I leaned over to much at the exact same time a bigger wave hit the side of the kayak, during a windy day. Caused me to have to jump in rather than flipping the whole kayak and losing everything. When soaked and life vest soaked, it's much harder getting into the kayak without tilting it too much and causing everything to fall out. Wanted a ladder to use. I got another rope ladder that was more rigid making it unfoldable so it took up a lot of space on my kayak. This is very foldable and allows you to store it under the kayak seat so it takes up little space. Works perfectly!

This is just what I needed for a small, mahogany runabout that I have. I need a small step up when climbing back into the boat after jumping in to cool off. Please note, that using a pure rope ladder to climb into a boat is not an easy task, so make sure you know what you are getting here. I'm pretty agile for my age and I just need one step to help get my leg over the side of the boat and this will do that. The "steps" have a grippy, rubber covering, and overall the webbing and sewing are well done.Others have noted the cheap hardware, and I will second that opinion. The clips are rather small, and I'm not sure what the weight rating would be on them. I would be hesitant to hang off the side of a boat on these and bounce up and down, but to do a single "alley oop" into a low boat, it should be fine.YMMV

This rope ladder is very high quality and is built well from quality components. The carabiners are easy to clip, and they seem plenty strong enough to handle a few hundred pounds, which is what the ladder is rated. The step portions have a nice rubberized coating, with a pattern that makes it extra grippy. If you use this in salt water, I would suggest rinsing it with fresh water right away, as dried salt within the fibers will shorten the life of this product. Good price, great product, makes a five star item.FIve Star Boat Gunwale Clip-on Rope Ladder

We needed a super small rope ladder because the kayak is so little on the inside. This is perfect to hook on, just in case! It seems to be made very well, and will work in an emergency situation when it’s hard to get back in. It takes up very little room!

The ladder itself seems okay, but the carabiners are super cheap and I wouldn't trust them to hold a lot of weight. For a product like this they should have used heavier duty carabiners. If you have better carabiners to use with it you might find this useful, however you may or may not like the loose rungs. It's not as easy to use a ladder without hard rungs.I hope this helps. Thanks for reading and liking.

Or if it is, it's a really low grade. I wouldn't trust my weight to these carabiners. They are low quality, poorly machined, lightweight and given that they attract a magnet they aren't marine grade stainless steel. The straps are okay; not particularly heavy duty but they do have reinforced stitching so I think they will hold up fine to a single person's weight when boarding. The anti-slip tubing covering the steps seems superfluous given that webbing straps aren't particularly slippery to begin with. So I'll throw away the carabiners and attach heavy duty ones and hopefully get some use out of it. I got the 3 step ladder... anything longer and if it doesn't have rigid steps (which this does not), it just twist and bends rather than functioning as a ladder. It's more of a boarding assist strap and it's good to have one if you are uncertain about your ability of reboard a kayak or other small boat.
