First one I ordered arrived with one of the cross dowel broken I half. Second one, put together and top cross dowel snapped in half within two weeks of chickens sitting on it. And the chickens aren’t even full grown yet!

Do not use the wooden perches to push this down into the soil. I made the mistake of pushing on one of the 2 perches. Since they are cut out a certain way to fit together it creates a weak point that can’t handle the pressure placed to push into the ground. You could certainly push down on it on the center but do not go off center at all.

I purchased this for my hens, and while assembling, I leaned too hard and snapped the one bar in half- I still put it up with only one cross-section, but this is not very sturdy wood, I love the base and will more than likely use that to secure a large branch etc. for them to perch on.

It broke when pounding it into the ground. Others then told me dowels are not good perches for the chickens.

The perch is tiny. The photo shows a large hen on it but mine won't even try. I should have looked more closely to the disproportionate size of the birds in the picture. Waste of money.

This is very sturdy to hold several chickens. I stained mine to preserve the wood for a long time. I used it as a sealer.
